What's a good shifter?
I am looking at all the shifters and was wondering if their really is a difference between any of them. I am looking at the B&M shifter but people say Authority makes a good one too but it is much cheaper. Anybody have feedback on these. I have searched but did not see any comparison.

I personally run the adjustable Perrin and have nothing but good things to say about it....I also know a few guys locally who run the B&M and have no complaints. Dont know much about the Authority though...but Im sure theres a few people on here who can give you some feedback on it
I'm thinking about the WORKS short-throw shifter for my RS. Had a chance to roll through the gears in a buddy's RS with that setup and it made the stock setup feel like a schoolbus in comparison.
The Authority appears to be like Megan Racing and the same one you can get on Ebay for cheap. I personally would rather have a short shifter that is designed for the EVO. Kartboy used to have one that I drove once and I liked it a lot.
I honestly think it is persoanl preference.. but of course there are ones that are built better than others.. I personally have driven the evo with both the B&M and Kartboy and I left the Kartboy on.. It seemed to have a bit more aggressive feel and easy shifting for me.. IMHO.. you really should upgrade to SS clutch line, clutch bushings, shifter bushings and engine mount.. this will get you the very best out of whichever short shifter you buy or not buy.. those upgrades will pay in the end for sure.. good luck though..

Has anyone tried the kit from Bonehead performance?, it's their house brand and the price is great considering it comes with all the bushings!

hmmm, maybe I'll test it, looks kinda basic though

That is an Ebay shifter. Megan sells the same one too.
Those brass shifter bushings are a bad idea. After some moisture builds up they will seize and become almost impossible to remove. For this reason you want the Kartboy bushings.
This would be a good reason to use anti seize on them, I had brass bushings on my celica with no trouble at all, however I know one person with an evo who had the same trouble as you're describing.
Edit: seeing as you're from only a few miles north, we probably both know the same person who had that problem lol
