Can a o3 Evo transfercase be rebuilt?

Can a o3 Evo transfercase be rebuilt? After it starts to WHINE.......Are o3 transfercase rebuildable?

Talked with couple vendors they say NO only BUY NEW one...Want to make sure this is accurate.....SUBTANTIAL DIFFERENCE from NEW to UPGRADED in cost????????

No. no one makes a replacement ring and pinion. PM me if you are interested in a low mile used one with no whine.

i was told that transfer cases could be rebuilt but i could be wrong.

You need to look at the ring and pinion and see if the teeth exhibit an usual wear Pattern

most of the transfer cases which make noise do so as the ring and pinion have a mis - matched engagement which results in un even wear and makes the noise worse and worse

if the ring and pinion are no abnormally worn - the case can be re-shimmed and corrected

From what I can gather a lot of bad transfer cases also result from using the wrong type of oil

ONLY Mitsu DIA QUEEN oil should be used
