Need some informed opinions on Clutch replacement

I did some casual searching on this topic but didn't come up with what I was hoping to find out.

Here is brief explanation:

1. Put in an RPS 2900 Max (with Street Disk) at about 27K
2. Had the opportunity to replace the disk at about 43k (because it looked pretty worn) other work was being done at the time - not from abuse though.
3. Figured I was just hackin' it too much, so a brand new disk went in.
4. Clutch felt great for about 10k - now it's strating to slip.
5. Went to the strip 4 or 5 times - total of maybe 20 runs over the summer.
6. I probably slipped it a bit more than I should have 5 -6 times of those runs.
7. I launch from between 4 to 5.5 k.
8. I plan on just a few trips to the track this year to put a couple of good 1/4 mi runs down. no class racing etc.. I'm probably switching to light RR if anything

BEFORE I jump at an ACT (2900# pp) with street disk - from frustration with the RPS wear - how about some comments from anybody that has had both or maybe comment on premature wear tendencies on either.

(The pad thickness and heavier looking rivets of the RPS FD is what got my attention, I almost went with the "tried and true ACT" the first time)

I had heard some disappointing RPS tales before I put in the 2nd FD, but decided to give it another try. I am usually willing to blame myself first when in doubt on stuff like that.

just some background:
I have only replaced 1 clutch in 186K mi on my 4 wheel drive Suzuki

I appreciate any reasoned responses -
I would also appreciate any "drive by smart azzez" to just keep on drivin ....

Did it include the flywheel? Was the flywheel replaced or machined at the time of the clutch replacement?

If you installed a clutch on a worn, uneven, wavy flywheel that could have played a part.

May be you can look into an EXEDY multiplate carbon. ACT will work but you should look into the clamp load ratings on those.

No - the mechanic showed it to me said he though it would be ok and cleaned it up for the new disk - (he needed to follow Mits guidelines because it was being done at a dealership) - but next time it'd be a given to replace it.

I know I'm planning on it this time.

Edit: I ust remembered the shop turned the FW at the 27K replacment - so it has to be changed

At this point I'm trying to avoid a multiple plate clutch - but haven't ruled it out.

When I got the RPS I was looking at the 2900 # rating , but ACT had one too last time I checked. Since I'm around 300 to 320 hp & trq I'm sticking to the higher clamping range, though I've heard it's not the best for RR because of the release and effort consideration

Thanks for the input
