Intake temp data [request of speed density users]

There is a bunch of interest on how intercoolers perform.

I thought if all the people running standalone ecu's could report on some data. Perhaps we'd get a few samples of each intercooler and have some decent real world data.

Could you grab a log and report the following data about your intercooler performance?

1. Intercooler Brand/Make
2. Ambient Temp
3. Intake temp (measured post intercooler)
4. turbo / location of sensor / peak boost

Ok I'll start

1. AMS Intercooler
2. 26c
3. 50c
4. AMS GT35R / intake manifold / 1.8 bar

Attached is data log with point in time selected near top of 4th gear.

So in my practical experience... I'm seeing about 25c degree over ambient.

Bump!

This is the last time I'll try to get interest in this. It just blows my mind that there are 1000's of replies on an intercooler test that hasn't even started. And here on this board we've probably got literally 100's of standalone users with intake temp data at their fingertips.

I have the BR Race core on my DSM and the results have been incredible. I see around a 5-8* degree rise in temps from staging through breaking the traps in 4th gear going 140mph. Turbo is a T67/P tim around 37PSI. I have run the car in 95* ambient temps and 40* ambient temps and the rise rates have always been pretty much the same.

Wow amazing. Just to clarify you mean 5-8 degree rise over ambient? Meaining on a 90 degree day, your intake temps are 98 degrees?

NO. I mean the rise between what the temps are from staging to the traps. The probe is in the throttle body elbow.

Ok, here are my numbers on intake temps, I have the stock intercooler installed as now. I have a 30-1313u with the intake temp sensor installed on the stock intercooler piping right after the intercooler.

This is a datalog of a 12.20 @ 113mph on the stock turbo boost spiked to 24 tapering to 20.

start of race 96.8
1st gear 7500rpm 109.4
2nd gear 7500rpm 116.6
3rd gear 7500rpm 127.4
4th gear 7500rpm 131.0

This is a datalog a few weeks later only changes are a SBR GT35R kit run was 11.60 @ 120mph boost was 26 tapering to 25 start temps on both days are the same.

start of race 96.8
1st gear 7500rpm 104.0
2nd gear 7500rpm 113.0
3rd gear 7500rpm 125.6
4th gear 7500rpm 134.6

This is not a intercooler #1 to #2 test but I will be installing a Buschur Race intercooler and testing will be done again with hard numbers.

Do you guys know what ambient temps where then in both your cases?

I think the rise from idle, to flat out through the gears is interesting... but also the rise over ambient is quite important too.
