Is this any better/worse for recirc. vlaves? What would the effects be if a twin-vent or dualport bov like Turbosmart or APS was mounted like this?

Why would you need to regulate pressure inside your inlet pipe? The BOV should be as close to the throttle body as possible and our cars on the stock ECU like the be recirculated. Some people run 50/50 and are fine its just preference.

The purpose of the diverter valve is to release pressure upon quick releases of the throttle. When you let off the gas, the throttle bottle closes and the pressurized air bounces off and goes back from where it came from.

Having the DV close the the intake (on the UICP) allows for that pressurized air to be released before it reaches the turbine thereby avoiding compressor surge which not only creates lag but diminishes the longevity of the turbine.

That is why you tend to see it on the UICP. As also stated, any vehicle with a MAF system should continue to use the recirculating valve so that the system maintains a proper AFR/tune.

Oh I see, but why isn't the diverter valve mounted like this from the factory & mounted to the intake instead?

The diverter valve is mounted like this from the factory. The stock BOV looks different then the picture you posted but the stock diverter is definitely on the UICP and not on the intake.

Look closer at yur car. You'll see the intake box or open air filter, the MAF, and a bit behind that the DV. Notice the DV is sitting on a cross tube connected to the UICP. So although it's not actually sitting directly on the the UICP, the air coming from the IM will travel back to the point of least resistance which is the outlet of the DV (as opposed to traveling all the way back to the compressor).

When I go with a UICP solution, I'll probably get a DV that is mounted more like the one in your pic.

As mentioned above the DV is mounted on the intake tube for the compressor but, the tube that runs from the DV to the UICP is where the compressed air travels to eliminate any problems once the TB is shut under boost.

Phyisically moving the DV to the UICP will give you no additional benefits as the air is still being diverted to the same place, just ahead of the compressor.

Same routing as the stock setup. Look at the pic again and compare it to your stock setup.
