EGR Removal
There must be a reason why I can't find much info on this topic... Either I'm not using great search terms or maybe it can be removed without any SES or ill effects.
I recently had one of the vac lines pop off on me and I'd like to do away with the entire system. Is this possible on the stock ECU with no SES light?
So who has done this? I'd like to do it to simplify things even more and to prevent any future vac leaks (plus it will save a remove a little weight)

I removed my entire emissions combobulation when I put my magnus on and I am still running the stock ecu, I had a check engine light for almostt 2 months until it went away. My vehicle "seems" to function just fine but that does not mean that everything is working order. Normal functions are perfectly fine though

I removed the egr when I installed my vsr intake manifold... yea, you cannot avoid throwing codes when you remove it, plus you will have idle problems (rpms dropping to the point of shutting off, or sometimes the rpm rising and holding while in neutral) from time to time, especially on cold days... leave it on, it doesn't really affect anything, I would have if there was a port for it on the intake mani...
Actually you can avoid getting the code, you have to disable the EGR tests, its one of the periphery options discussed on Aktivematrix.
The car runs fine with the code thrown as long as the vacuum lines are disconnected and capped from the EGR system. Once its "Really" disabled, you can run an aftermarket MAP sensor in place of the stock one, there is new info on how to configure that stuff posted elsewhere.

Someone pointed me to your forums but I was unable to find what he was talking about. If it runs fine without and the code can be removed that would be sweet.
I don't have any real reason to get rid of it other than avoiding loose vac lines... of course I could always super glue them and forget it altogether

So far no ill effects. All I've done is capped off both nipples on the tb and the hard lines where those vac lines were going. EGR is still in place but I don't believe it's doing anything anymore. My cel just came on this morning.. I drove almost 6 hours yesterday with nothing.
I've been running without EGR for over a year and the car runs fine. It would be nice to get rid of the CEL, but then again I also live with the Cat efficiency CEL, so it's not that big of a deal to me.

can you post the link on you forum for the discussed on the EGR test disable?
Thanks
Ran
There is a bit that can disable the EGR test for OBD-II, It should also disable the CEL code involved.
I do not know for sure that an inspection wouldn't pick up that the test isn't there on a car (if it knows its supposed to be there, ya know?)
As far as I know, just capping off the vacuum source to the valve and leaving the solenoid in place should basically allow it to not throw any codes.
