What should I expect at the dyno?

What should I expect at the dyno?

My '03 VIII made 303 hp/308 trq on a Mustang dyno running ACN91. Current mods are:
K&N drop-in
Hallman MBC @ 21psi
Forge by pass valve
Helix down pipe
Helix test pipe
Greddy EVO2 cat-back (modified)
HKS 264/264 cams
Nisei LICP
Walbro 255Lph fuel pump
Custom tune

I'm adding a gently used IX turbo, a ported stock exhaust manifold, and the correct eBay SS O2 housing.

What should I expect at the same dyno? Can I run more boost, or does the 91 limit me to 21 psi?

Thanks,
Jim

I would hope for at least 20whp. I was going to say get a 10.5 housing and get 10whp but it already comes with your 9 turbo so I think the turbo and the o2 housing should be worth more than 10 whp too.

I do hope you are simply pessimistic in general.

With used IX turbo, ported mani, O2 housing, and dyno tune, I'll have over a grand in this swap. I'll be disappointed if I only get 20 whp out of all of this.

IX turbo into an VIII: how much whp?

I thought a IX turbo swap to an VIII was supposed to be good for 25 whp, and a ported mani and SS O2 should add another 20 whp....

Am I off base here? Wishful thinking?

Want less pessimism? Buy a bigger turbo.
I'm thinking about 25 - 30 hp total.

Agreed on bigger turbo. I have an VIII turbo core sitting here waiting for a trip to FP to be Greened. I've been reading about how long it has been taking, and costing, so decided to throw a 10.5 HS on my turbo in the mean time. Well, the 10.5 HS was ~$300, so I decided to just buy a used IX turbo for $500. I can rationalize anything!

We'll see what it makes in a week or so.

I would predict around 320+ on the Dyno on 91 if you put 100+ maybe 10-15 more it depends on how aggresive you want the tune. 91 will limit the safety of your car at higher boost. Higher Octane will allow you to run a few pounds more, Ive heard of a few locals who have run up to 30lbs with no issues. Tuning Tuning Tuning my good friend will keep your car safe!! Good luck please keep us posted

AMS does indeed Rock!! But down here in the state O Az weve got crappy fuel so for Jim 320-330 on 91 is more realistic for a Mustang Dyno aka The Heart Breaker

Jim ,

Your Dyno numbers are fanstastic, My Evo 9 puts almost identical numbers minus the cams. I ran more boost on 91oct before I did the methanol but keep in mind I had a custom road tune.

Your numbers are in pair with my previous dyno numbers done with similar mods minus the methanol.

Definately nothing to worry about. By the way, you are in good hands with IAperformance and his great customer service and crew.

3 things that will throw off your comparisson:

Dynojet
100oct
custom tune

he was on :

Mustang dyno
untuned
on 91oct

I am not trying to downside your numbers by any means, congrats by the way, but I want to make things fair, I have been on the same dyno that he dynoed his car and I can tell his numbers are very decent considering he doesn't even have a tune.

Carlos

Should be here within the next 8 weeks or so, I changed the order from Euro delivery to Tucson delivery but had to pay the $2850 difference. Some mods are already here
