Well..... she finally went 10's!

Took the car out for the first time this year yesterday at a private track rental at Norwalk Raceway Park. The day started off good. Picked up my girlfriend, had lunch with some of my buddies and headed to the track. Got there, dumped in some C16, went down the return road to set my boost, car felt great and I was ready for MY 10sec. pass. Well.... that didnt happen.

First pass... came out of the hole AWESOME (1.63 60') missed 2nd and just got out of it and drove it to the end of the track and back around to go again. No biggy it happens.

2nd pass.... Eased out of the hole, missed 3rd and went 11.42 @ 127mph a little irritated.

3rd pass..... Repeat of first pass. ERRRRRR

By this time I was becoming irritated at myself because I have missed very few gears in my car until yesterday at the track and that was 3 passes in a row that I messed up.

4th pass.... Repeat of first and 3rd passed.

VERY po'd at this point. Didnt care to make any other passes for the day. A good friend of ours came to the track to hangout. Some of you im sure know of him. His name is Kevin Lawson. He used to drive our old orange AWD talon and the 8 second conquest we had.

He came up to me and told me to take it easy & calm down because trying to race mad isnt going to get me anywhere except where I already am. Well.... im not the easiest person to talk to when im PO'd so I just threw him the keys and told him to have at it.

First pass with Kevin in it.... 10.8 @ 131mph.

I was happy to see the car go 10's but at the same time it still sucked because I wanted that 10.

David checked the datalog, all was good went out for another pass.

2nd pass with Kevin in the car... 10.9 @ 133mph but she was breaking up a little so I pulled the plugs out since they are the same plugs I ran last October at the NOPI world finals.

Threw some fresh plugs in it, turned the boost up a couple lbs because I wanted to see what kind of potential she had this since it was cutting good 60 foots and it was about 70 degree's and perfect for racing.

3rd pass with Kevin in the car.... on the 2step, leaves hard, spins, grabs, wheel hops and BAM. Snapped a rear axle. I guess drag radials will do that to ya.

That was the day in a nutshell.

I just wanted to give an update of how the car is running with the new setup as I know there are quite a few people on here who have duplicated my setup. The car is without a doubt fun to drive. I did figure out however I can NOT drive.

I also would like to give a special thank you to Kevin for driving the car and also to David for the tuning, touch up work and putting up with my hard headed *** at the track. Im sure he probably wanted to punch me a few times.

Take care guys!

P.S.- If anyone has a good used OEM driver side rear axle let me know. I need one.

Jarrod, great times but you posted this in "Future Evo Models"

EDIT: Ok, it was moved. At least all you broke was an axle. That isnt that bad for all your power

The car is freaking awesome looking. You should post some pictures of it. The tires/wheels were the right choice and puts a ton of rubber on the track without being heavy at all.

This driving thing................we ain't all cracked up to drive these manual transmission cars buddy!! I suck, I admit it, I put someone good in my car and see what it'll do. You're trying to jump in a 500+whp AWD and learn to do it all at once, I have confidence in your that YOU are actually going to come around and get it...........just takes time.

You have the power, you just have to learn to control it. It's like having a huge member, if you can't use it........doesn't do you much good Not that you can relate to that. haha

It's good having you around here.

Why dont you get the driveshaft shop axles and not have to worry about again. Or just buy the upgraded shafts.

I dont have the money for them right now.

I am one who likes to avoid putting stuff on my credit card so I guess I will run the OEM's one until I break down enough to do it or until I hit the mega millions.

Jarrod, it was good to see you yesterday....to bad we didn't have much time to hang out and shoot the sh@t. Keep hainging in there and with a little more seat time I guarntee you will be cutting those mid to low 10's. You definitly have the power for it!
