Evo I-iii Bov
Evo I-iii Bov
I've been searching around a bit here and it seems the majority of the recommended BOV's to use are the stock one's that come with the newer Evo's or the MR BOV (if running a certain amount of boost) which leaves me in a bit of a bind. I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority here with a first generation Evo and alot of the time when I do searches on BOV's compatible with Evo's, the description always says for Evo's newer than mine. Is anyone out there familiar with the EVO I that could recommend an aftermarket recirculating BOV that I can switch to from the stock plastic one? I'm limited on the boost I can run as a result and really need to switch. I'm at 14spi now and that is supposed to be max for the factory recirculating BOV. I've seen the Greddy recirc., but haven't heard the greatest feedback on them so far...
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure if it does (its been a long time since I have seen a 1g evo motor) but...... If the evo I-III bov is the same as the us DSM 1g/ Galant vr4 bov then you can use it with a lot more than 14 psi. I am using the 1g dsm/ Galant vr4 bov on my evo at 20psi with no problems. You can crush the "hat" of the bov (there is a right way & a wrong way to do this) or there is a leak stop fix kit sold by dejon tool that will allow you to run higher boost.
Not sure if this helps.
Some people have luck with the greddy type S/RS and some do not. I used the greddy type S on my old DSM track car at pretty high boost settings and it performed flawlessly.

Thanks for the replies...I want to run it at about 16 psi, but don't want to be too limited. The car is supposed to run at about 9lbs stock from what I understand, but came running 14lbs without any form of a bosst controller (which I added later). After adding one, I've cranked it to 16 psi which it ran fine with, but I'm afraid of boost leak with this BOV so I turned it back. I looked up some BOV's on a Japanese website that I ordered my HKS filter from and they say the HKS SQV is recommended for my car, but I always thought that BOV vented into the atmosphere??? Here's the link...

Krish, I think I posted in one of your threads before. I have an Evo II and like the I and III the BOV is identical in exterior form to evo 8 and 9. My suggestion would be to get the MR bov, available from any vendor on this site and run that in it's stock location. The BOV in your car isn't the same as the DSM valves as this one is clamped by a hose clamp on both sides and not a flange on the inlet side like the DSM.

I checked out the prices and they aren't bad at all and they seem to be pretty good according to alot of the feedback here. That may be an option...Thanks again
