Clutch with soft pedal feel

I currently have a ACT street clutch and prostreet flywheel and due to a injury i had sustained im having trouble driving my car for long trips because of the stiff clutch pedal. Im looking for some recommandations on a clutch that will support up to 500hp with soft pedal feel for mainly street use. I know some might flame me for asking but honestly I dont drive my car much because of the pain Im experiencing. Hopefully by making my evo more comfortable, I will love my car again

I know that you have the ACT Clutch and it bothers you to drive it that way, however I recently had the ACT Clutch installed and noticed no increase in pedal stiffness. I don't think you will be able to find anything less stiff than this one is.... Just my $.02

I read Exedy clutches have a softer pedal feel in general, compared to the ACT clutches. My friend has a Ralliart HD clutch, twin disc type, and I think it is much softer than the ACT street/Xact flywheel I have installed. I like the pedal feel on the HD, but I hate how you have to slip it to get it going. The chatter makes me feel like I was breaking it.

For about 500hp, the only thing that comes close in a single disc type would be an ACT clutch. The Exedy organic is just barely above the stock Evo clutch, on torque capacity, but from what I heard the pedal feel is pretty soft. The cerametallic might be good, but I don't know anyone, personally, who likes them.

Good luck in your search. Maybe you can ask some locals in your area to try out their setups and see what's good. I'm sure there's enough Evo owners in IL.

Not sure if this applies to all cars or just for this particular application but my buddy has a 1996 Skyline GTS-T here in the Bahamas and he just installed on Monday a stage 3 Spec clutch in it amd hates it because of how soft it feels! I drove the car and it really feels like there is nothing there...Almost like if you were to take off your shoe and rest it there, the pedal would compress! He asked a few people about it and they said those clutches are known to be really soft so may be worth checking out with the manufacturer.

Sorry to hear about your injury. Hope everything works out well for you

rsboy, I just noticed you posted this...
FYI: my Ralliart clutch is a single-disc 3-puck cerametallic.

Never chatters at idle, but you're right... sometimes at low speed takeoffs & when reversing, the noise does sound as though something is about to rattle itself right off the Evo!

i have a centerforce clutch and both Dan Buschur and I were suprised how soft the pedal is.

It is a lot softer than stock and it holds my power just fine. 350+whp
I've got a couple launches on it as well.

The exedy organic is the lightest clutch i've ever driven...

i've driven a tilton twin, exedy twin, hks twin, both act's, rps and carbonetics, exedy 6 puck...

the acts are both 2nd easiest and drive pretty nice.... the exedy twin hd is next easiest... the rest are all 2 foot clutches lol never driven a triple plate, i can only imagine how much those suck to drive

I have the same clutch and I too was suprised at how much the pedal pressure.

Do you have any problems with lock out at all? I do, and I hate it. No matter what I do, adjust the rod, change the fluid, upgrade the clutch line, remove the restrictor, I still have it.. But, I do like the clutch..

Clutchmasters actually change the fulcrum point on their pressure plates instead of just heat treating them like most. This allows greatly reduced pedal pressure while maintaining high load handling capabilities. The segmented kevlar FX300 is a wonderful option.

I LOVE my Exedy Twin stock clutch pedal feel (actually feels as soft, if not, softer than stock)
