Just went for a ride in a Evo IX with Cosi cams untuned at 19.5 psi and the car pull HARD all the way to redline. The car isnt tuned for the cams yet so the full potential of the cams havent been seen yet.

This Evo IX has the SAME mods as me and his car was just as fast as mine or faster at 19psi vs 24 peak in running. We might race soon to see how it turns out

 

Yes ive heard some good things about these cams and their gains.

 

congrats on the ride... i did the same test myself in a way... a buddy of mine (cosi's untuned) raced me with my S1's with a base tune. Mods pretty much the same, boost was the same.... we pulled pretty steady through the gears except for up top where id run away... and 5th gear was nightmare in comparison for him. Once he gets tuned i expect us to be pretty close although we will never get to find out since we both just went with turbo upgrades

 

We're gona race soon to see how he pulls on me. My car is fast and if he pulls me hard then we know those Cosi cams work

 

Ive raced plenty a good many other evos now and the s1s have been working for me. Even at the dyno day there where a couple of cosi 9's there and they werent even close to the s1s with similiar mods.

 

the cam debate will never end. all in personal prefernce

 

ALL of the FASTEST Evos in Puerto Rico running 11.2-11.3 ALL are using Cosi cams so i think they do work. Hell, one guy went from 117 traps to 122 after all he did was put Cosi and retune. Let me see if i can find the thread for u

 

i think thats what were trying to find out here. its only personal preference because we don't have enough comparisons.

I doubt all of the fastest are lol... most of the evo's i see from PR are viii's that are modded to hell. Just because someone adds cams then traps higher, doesnt mean its the cams that did that. So much comes into play. Hell, the video in my sig, i trapped 116 without cams or turbo and that same night i trapped 119. I didnt change anything, just 2 separate runs. Dyno #'s fall into the same category. You can put down different numbers each day with the same mods, its just a comparison. As i stated yesterday, a buddy of mine gained 40whp/40tq with just the addition of the S1's. doesnt mean everyone will.

 

That car doenst run nitrous. Oscars car is the one that ran nitrous. Dan Bajalis trapped 119 with just the exhaust cam and a cam gear

 

Oh i agree, every car is different. We all know some Evo IXs are freaks and have trapped ridiculous mph with minimal mods

 

tell your friend to watch his afrs with the untuned cossie cams.

when we isntalled mine the car went lean and it needed plenty of work on the tune!

wouldn't change them for the world... specs of the cams speak for themselves...

 

So did I but w/o a cam gear on my stock IX turbo.

I am at the point now were I want cams... all I have now is 280 HKS ex.

DB and Dynoflash have nothing but good to say about Cosi. So I to will proly go w/ them.
