Spark plugs BPR7ES .026

I changed my plugs today. I'm new to EVO's, so I figured I'd play it safe and do a quick search. I found out that actually alot of people have problems with just sprak plugs So I was actually a little worried

I installed NGK BPR7ES. Gapped them to .026 and the car pulls smoother than ever. I can't understand what all the fuss was about, it's almost like every EVO is different. But anyway, I'm only making this post so when somebody else in the future searchs, hopfully this post will come up... BPR7ES gapped to .026. Works great. No rough idle, first and second gear pulls are smooth. Before they were a little bumpy, but now smooth.

Forgot to mention this is on a stock EVO. MBC is the only engine mod. 3" TBE, filter kit and 21 psi soon.

No need to leave comments, this is just for future search purposes. If mods don't agree with it, delete it, just trying to help

thanks for the post
but the evo will run good on many different gap settings- the real question is what is your gas mileage before and after.

Gas mileage isn't really relevant.

Good job finding that you are supposed to use NGK BPR7ES gapped to .026. That is the optimal setting that we suggest for everyone unless they are running enough boost or making enough power to blow out the spark.

Would you suggest these same plugs for a IX? I'm tired of searching and searching and always getting different answers.

No, because IXs have completely different plugs, so they can't use the same ones as VIIIs.

Just curious how much boost is necessary to blow out the spark? (Sorry for slightly off topic)

There's not an exact number, and it depends on the gap. I started having to change out mine at ~25psi on race gas, and when I went to alky full-time, the 7s couldn't take it at 26psi at all.

So what did you run after the 7's "couldn't take it" 8's? I'm running 100 octane and alky (50%meth/50%h20) and boost peaks at 27psi, 29 in cold weather.
Thanks
