I guess the lockout problems really goes back to proper adjustment, and maybe the design of the clutch. Lockout problems also often happen when people DON'T CHECK THE STEP HEIGHT on the flywheel. If you have your flywheel re-surfaced, you have a much better chance of quite operation without any gear lockout. Single plate clutches are usually lighter than multi plate clutches and are also capable of holding a lot of torque (mostly depending on the clamping pressure of the pressure plate) however heavy pressure plates can unfortunately lead to premature thrust bearing wear or failure in the engine, this is the only main drawback for single plate clutches. This can be offset slightly by more aggressive friction material on the disc. I have used many different single disc act clutches on my DSM's, none of them ever had any high RPM lockout issues because I followed the correct installation procedures (resurface flywheel, bleed line, adjust pedal).

DSM's are a different story dude...I never ever got locked out even in my 800WHP DSM style motor/transmission Evo 3 till today...
Happens only on evos...AM a big fan of ACT till today, they hold ridiculous amounts of power but the lockout thing may be not the clutch alone but also to the design on the box itself...who knows... we promoted an ACT even to a dude with an Evo 8 making only 400 plus WHP and he complained it wouldn't shift at high rpm only AT TIMES...but it does happen..but it never slips..at all....
