No, I've never seen a well taken care of transmission fail. They don't work fine for 30K miles then an "assembly error" takes the transmission. Every transmission failure I've ever seen on ANY car has been due to abuse.

EDIT:

This clown went to the dealer and had a transmission "problem" fixed under warranty. This is why transmissions fail..........

Here's the cause of your trans failure.
Go visit the "for sale" section. Tons of parts sure you could use.

I bought my 03 Evo w/5K miles on it and now, 3 years and 15K miles later, I had to buy a replacement tranny for $3K. After labor and a new clutch/flywheel from Exedy, my total cost to get the car back on the road will be in excess of $4700.

My car has 75,000 miles on it. 2005 EVO8. Mine shifts like its brand new.

Not everything is created equal. Some guys stock motor blow at 5000 miles, really no explanation. It SHOULD not have gone though.

you also have guys running 400 and 500whp through them and them not breaking I think ppl that break them need to learn how to drive. Not saying they are bulletproof by any means but they hold up pretty darn well if you drive it properly that is. Anythings gonna break with abuse. I m sure there is some moron out there that has even broken a jetrag 6 sp from driver error
