I do know that the stock blow off valve leaks. Maybe you could monitor your a/f ratio. It could tell you alot about your idle and driving. I recommend a digital readout since blinky lights don't tell you as much. I will look at mine and see what it is reading so you can compare.

you have to go through a couple of menus then a person will pickup, tell them you need to open a case with the vehicles department.

I think the big problem at the moment is with the techline engineers, they seem to think every problem with an EVO is "normal behavior" and the dealers kinda have to go along with what they are told by techline.

I'm going to bring it back and leave it there untill the problem is fixed. Hopefully this won't turn into more of a hastle than it already is. I have no problem making this a legal matter after I bring it to the dealership three times and im definetly going to let them know that when I bring it. -Zach
Not sure how the lemon law works where you live becuase it does very from state to state, but here you have to file after the second repair attempt. Then you send a "final attempt to repair notice" via certified mail to mitsu america and wait for them to repond (I think the legal limit on the amount of time they have to respond is one week from the time they receive the noice) then they are supposed to have the dealer call you to setup an appointment for the final repair attempt.

i don't think it would be a boost leak. it could be a vacuum problem.

do those people experiencing this install a aftermarket BOV?

not to hijack, just want to throw out a recent and ongoing experience. tried a 1st gen crushed top bov with turbo xs adapter on friends car, idling went all to hell, rpm falling below idle point and letting car die all the time, car just barely able to hold 1 bar, took it off and replaced with stock bov assembly that car would run 21 psi, roughly in between 1.4 and 1.5 bar, all day with and now will not go above 1 bar and then tapers down to .8 or .9 bar, car no longer dies and idles beautifully but just doesn't seem to get to or hold boost anymore, have been told by a pro that there's no way the 1st gen bov could have hurt the turbo. any ideas guys? are the compressor wheels on these things really already going out? thanks ahead of time.

sounds to me like your oxygen sensor is stuck in "open loop" mode............ie. not enough voltage. get em to check that again, cause that will cause the problem you are talking about.

To the people that loose boost at high rpm, make sure you put the 2 plastic fasteners on the intake scoop back on. Otherwise, it will suck itself to the bottom of your hood at high rpm & suffocate your engine.

To the people that experience part-throttle bucking, that's normally an indication that your BOV isn't opening, so check the vaccuum tube leading to the nipple from the intake manifold. If that is ok, I would swap out the BOV and see if it isn't just stuck.

Yeah, this shouldn't be very hard to test the intake tract to eliminate the possibility of a plumbing leak or faulty BOV/BPV. About a half an hour total time with a pressure tester and you'd know for certain whether or not you've got any sort of leak.

Also, FWIW, I've got 13,000 miles and I have had no issues that aren't related to normal wear & tear. Sure, my clutch doesn't like to be dumped but it's still holding, even running ~320whp.

!!!

Best and most true post in the thread. Then I noticed this thread is almost exactly a year old. Why bump a thread that old where common fixes have been figured out since then? Start a new one instead!
