to answer a few of your questions, the dyno room was so hot i was sweating my **** off just sitting in the car not moving. it was literally like a sauna in there. not the best conditions for a dyno run, but we had to make due. as a comparision, a STi was on the dyno all day before us, and he put down 380 torque, 330whp, with ported heads, FMIC, evo green turbo, intercooler pipes and a tune on 93 oct gas. (and i'm sure more, thats all i could see/what they told us).

also, this car is right in line with all the other evos i've dynoed on this dyno. for 91 oct and the huge temp, it would definately be right on par with the 93 oct evos with similair mods.

for the A/F ratio, the final run was the higher of the two lines in the plot (targeting 11.5:1 a/f ratio). the first run with the previous tune before the cams generated the 11.0:1ish a/f ratio. a bit rich.

the car was tuned via e-mail flash from jestr before the cams, so we were not tuning a completely untuned evo (thus you don't get to see the massive 50-75hp increase when we added the cams). the tuning consisted of leaning the car out a bit, and changing the ignition a bit (we were getting some knock up top, and it took a more few degrees at peak torque)

once we got the car out of the dyno room and drove it back to my place, it was fun even for being 106 degrees outside, it was still strong.

Anyway tunning is about what you want out of your car from your set-up and not everybody chooses a stick of "dynomite" when they want a cherry bomb! right? RIGHT!

Anyway Cams on the 9 don't give you the bolt-on 40-50HP like on the VIII because the stock IX cams are very very Good... So without going ultra agressive with much more lift + springs and retainers you can only expect about 15-25HP with an improved Torque and Power Curve on stock Turbo...

peace out!

.
So in essence then, the HKS 272 IX cams are a waste of money ???

^ Dude...WTH is wrong with you? How do you figure...it's not ALL about "peak power" gains...is an increase throughout the "entire" powerband...torque comes on earlier and stronger and carrys further throughout.

But even if your not saying anything constructive at least you're increasing your post count, right?

then quantify the results.

If I do mods to my Evo, one of 2 things will justify my money spent:
1) my dyno results
2) 1320 or a lap time.

Based on the figures from the HKS cams, it wouldnt "encourage" or "motivate" me to purcahse them, unless you can quantify otherwise some other end result. "Thats my personal take"

LIL EVOL, I really appreciate that you took the time out to post your results. I'm sure a lot of people have been waiting on results of these cams (myself included).

its not about how big and shiny your muscles are but about how much your can bench press, does that clarify it for you?

your car dynoed 287whp completely stock....

291 rwhp / 294 rwtq with HKS cams @ 21psi.
Frankly i think that is laame power esp. for a IX. The 1st time I dynoed the 2006 IX MR, it made 278/274 awhp bone stock.

We installed a Full inake system, full 3" exhaust, and HKS UICP/LICP, went back to the dyno and did 312/304 awhp and to also add to that, the Greddy Proec-B wasnt functioning so the boost was eratic.
I honestly think you should be packing way more power than that for a set of "HKS" cams unless you have a **** load of tuning to be done..

jus my 0.2cents
after adding a full exhaust, UICP and LICP, a profect B spec 2 EBC, you only gained 28hp and 30ftlb (and i'm guessing a tune too). those are pretty weak gains if you ask me... so why did you do all those mods? you spent far more then 600 dollars on mods and only gained as much as a 200 dollar tune can do. and here you are trying to say that 297whp on a mustang dyno is low numbers (and unless your dynoing in 120+ degree temps, you have no idea what its like). your dyno has the most inflated numbers i have seen. i tell you what, when i get home i'll make a dyno plot of my car making 2000hp. that will make your car look really bad in case you didn't know this already, dynos read differently.... so if you dynoed at 287whp on gotham racings dyno completely stock... so what do you run in the 1/4 if its so important to you?

Hey Lil Evo I'm pretty interested in the HKS mivec cam, but what are you running for exhaust cam? If anyone else can chime in on this, please do!
