shooting for low 10s, what should I do next?

Hey guys....I have a Evo7 with the following parts:

Mitsubishi main and rod bearings
ARP head studs
Greddy 1.2mm head gasket
HKS 272 camshafts
HKS cam gears
HKS valve springs
1mm oversized valves
GT37R turbocharger by AMS
Shearer Motor sports manifold
Tial 38mm wastegate
AEM EMS
AEM 3.5 bar sensor
1000cc precision injectors
AMS fuel rail
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
RPS twin disc carbon/carbon clutch w/
Cynergy Flywheel
K&N filter
Spearco intercooler (33 x 14 x 3.5)
Custom 3 inch downpipe and exhaust
Tomei timing belt
Aeromotive Fuel pressure regulator
Road Race Balance shaft removal kit
Zaklee Clear Cam gear cover
Greddy 8’s spark plugs
Stock ignition

First engine went thru. RIght now I am using a stock bottom end, making 322whp and 260wtq @ 18psi on a Dyno Dynamics. Redline @ 7500rpm.

I need some advice on what next.
I want to run low 10s.
I am not sure how much power I need, maybe 600-650whp??
I have existing Crower rods from the previous engine.
I know I need to change to forged pistons...what brand should I use?
Should I go with a stroker kit or not? SBR has a stroker kit that uses the stock length rod, so I can reuse my rods.
If there is anything else I should upgrade in my setup, or if there is something that I should have that I dont, could u please enlighten me.
I would appreciate any input.
Thanks.

Looks like an EVO another member on this board from Trini was selling.

First thing you need is an engine management system and someone to tune it or just tune the stock ECU via remote Eflash by a tuner like TTP-Engineering

550-650 will get you 10's with appropriate driving

You have the parts but nothing is working together there....and thus it won't run right. Car needs a brain to tell it how to run.

with your mods all you need is a kick *** tune, driver mod, and perhaps an ignition ampliflier.

You could also use some beefy cams....JUNs or Buschur's are very nice.

You really just need some tuning and some seat time. The big thing with the tune is to crank up the boost. You're going to need to run 35+psi to get where you want. Good luck.

big turbos such as gt35's only work their full potential when u bump up the boost30+ psi, with your mods your looking at 500+whp depending on the tune, ams ems is one of the best or the most preferred unit to be tuned by lots of major shops, it's just finding a company reliable, personally i would take it up to ams in chincago

to be in the 10s with that setup i would say you are going to need A. aem ems and a tune B. a stroker kit so u can run 40psi C. A fuel system that can support 600+hp (ams 1000hp in tank kit) D. slicks!!

He already posted that he has an EMS.

Why would he need a stroker to run 40+ psi? Built 2.0 will do that.

Just get a solid tune, some race gas and slicks and give it hell.

Your setup could be very nice but personally i think its all over the place...

Firtst of all you have WAY TO BIG turbo to be able to utilise it with the stock block... Then the wastegate is abit small for the turbo. I would go 44mm...

I would either go smaller on the turbo, maybe a GT35R which again to utilise fully you need more than 30psi but again you are pushing the stock block...

personally i would invest on a built bottom-end just to make sure that the engine can hold... and then maybe you can keep the GT37. personally i would go with a 2 litre bottom end since you want to drag race. these turbos utilize better the higher rpm powerband instead of the extra capacity... check the bog names. everyone's using 2 litrre bottom end or destroked 2.1 end...

Also you need something kind of head job. pushing so much air with the GT37 turbo the stock head i dont believe it can utilise it...

Your ingition needs upgrade

Start saving up for tranny upgrade. If you get over 550-600whp something will break...

what i would do to run 10s is:

- get pistons/rods
- better fuel system
- use a GT35R at around 35psi
- built tranny
- AEM 5 bar map sensor
- definitely remove the hks 272s and get either Juns or Cossie M2s

I hope you make 1000whp, but I think those numbers are just a little north of reality with the setup listed in your signature. Good luck though.

Then be prepared to open your wallet.

You WILL need a built shortblock, preferrably a 2.0L if you're going to drag race it. Likewise, consider a ported head, more serious camshafts, a much more capable fuel pump system, and an ignition setup that works with the boost pressures you'd likely need to run just for starters. I don't know anything about that IC, or its pressure drop characteristics, but that can be an issue. No one can guarantee these components WILL get you there (too many other factors to consider), but realistically speaking, you'll need them to get there. Also, I wouldn't necessarily recommend sticking with those HKS 3-anchor point cam gears (they tend to let go).

And if you really want to run low 10's, consider the driveline components (tranny, transfer case, axles, etc.) that should be part of the upgrade plan as well.
