constant wavering squealing/screaching sound
constant wavering squealing/screaching sound
For some reason my car started making this constant wavering squealing sound at idle.
- If the clutch pedal is all the way out the sound is very loud and irritating.
- With the pedal all the way in, it minimizes the squealing sound but is still very noticable.
- If I apply just enough pressure on the pedal (about 1-3 inches) the sound stops.
Anyone have any idea what this could be?

So today I make a right turn and the clutch drops to the floor. I was able to pull it out and it remained in its normal position, but when I stepped on it, it would only go about half way down and feel like I was standing on a brick. The clutch will not engage now. Anyone???/

I replaced the Fidanza
flywheel and ACT 6 puck clutch for an ACT Prolite flywheel and performance street disk. All sounds went away with the install (thanks IVEY). It's hard to say for sure what was creating the sounds
but it seems the problem was a combination of a worn clutch and a piece of crap flywheel (all three screws that hold the ring gear onto the actual flywheel came loose and two of them fell out!) I ended up having to change the starter too because one of the screws got into the starter and burnt it up.
