With any type of cone filter you will hear a recirc valve all day long.
Christ I hear the air going in and coming out!
Obvious recommendation is the Forge valve for price, quality, operation on the Evo. And it is a direct drop in.
that's what i've been thinking... so, what is the advantage here to upgrading the stock BOV...?

I'm going to stick the factory intake box at this point with a Ralliart drop in filter... will upgrading the BOV net me anything...?

Just the guarentee that you won't leak boost at higher RPMS.
The stock valve is plastic and does not always seat well and can leak boost because it is not seated. I have seen people say it leaks at idle but that doesn't matter cause it is recircing. The Forge valve is actually open at idle, but again it is recircing so it doesn't matter.

Can't wait to hear from you.
I think I be back in the future for the FMIC too.
I just spent $3000 in flooring so I gotta wait on that.

i'll get on that issue with the site immediately.. that's not good! i see it fine on my computer, but that's not good enough..

i thought the forge valve was up on our site now.. isn't it under evo8 engine? try this link: http://www.renn-art.com/renn-art.com...ne.asp?cat=evo

Yeah I am an idiot.

This is what the site looks like from here, which will probably deleted by a mod but you get to see. Notice the names in the drop down.

any issues arise from switching to a VTA...?
the VTA version works perfectly when using the green or yellow spring.. i had it in my car before.. no problems at all with those springs.. but as soon as u upgrade to the harder springs (to hold more boost than stock), the idle becomes a little problematic at times... when you drive hard and let go of the gas completely the rpms will bounce down below normal idle and almost bogs sometimes, but it then comes right back to normal (when the MAF has figured out what's going on)..

and be aware that this VTA BOV is VERY loud!!! it's like a semi-truck BOV!!!! it freaks people out!.. and i've heard a lot of BOV's!!

it's a personal preference really.. but i do recommend to all serious drivers to go with the recirculating version.. if it's sound you're looking for, then the exact same whoosh sound comes out anyway if you go with a cone filter... or if you do my little air-box mod (i wanted to get a little more airflow) which ends up creating a pretty different but sweet sound... but it's not annoying like some can get in the long run either.. it's just right!

i hope my bov sound comes out in my video.. then u will really understand what i mean.. the best way i can explain it is this (don't laugh) *ptching*

Anyone know the stats on the Forge Evo 8 BOV
Recirculating version. At what vacuum on the nipple does the valve open with 19psi on the other end? I have read on a forum that the stock one opens at 16" of vacuum.

Run the Forge Recr BOV... stock replacement, works great, doesnt f-up the MAF, and gives you about a 3hp gain.

it's ok to not do any electronics.. i totally understand. and even in stock shape the evo is a beast!..

the downpipe and O2 housing is ready!!.. it's going into production right now! i can't wait to get it on my car so i can go down to the track and run some low 12's!!

then i'm going for the bolt-in FMIC (truly bolt-in, using stock piping and no cutting involved.. it literally just pops right in!!) from AMS as well! it gave 20whp for AMS's EVO8!

i'm not sure there will be a titanium version exhaust, but anything is possible!

I just saw in person the AMS FMIC and it's a beast !! It is bolt on , no mods. It looks soooo sweet !. The cat back looked nice too and they told me about the 3" o2 housing and I can't wait to see it finished. They had the prototype on their Evo at the show. I will setting up my AMS account Tues-Wed like I said and since they are less than 1000 miles from me, I will likely go pick up a couple intercoolers and catbacks !! Look for me to be selling those later this week !
