Stock two step questions

I have heard that there is a stock stationary REV limiter, meaning at a stop, you floor the clutch and floor the gas and the car should rev to "X" and stay there.

Well, I don't seem to have this. I will be at a stop, floor them both, and my engine raps out to over 7K before it starts to cut.

Was I mistaken about this feature? is there something I need to do to engage it? Is it not an option on some models? Any help would be appreciated.

If it matters, I have an 06 MR bone stock

Thanks in advance

If you're in neutral it won't work. You have to be in first gear with the clutch in, and give it some gas and it should bounce of 5K.

^ yup has to be in first and if the car rolls just a little the 2 step will stop and rpms will shoot up. cant let the car roll.

Thanks guys, I consider myself a smart man, but I was kinda pissed that I couldn't get this to engage.

The trick is you have to be in neutral THEN shift to first. If you roll to a stop in first it doesn't work.

Now to get rid of the damn clutch pill and get a decent clutch.

Thanks guys

How can this be the case? My case being the drag strip...after the cars race in front of me, I put it in first and pull up for the pre-stage lights, leave it in first and once the other car pre-stages, I go ahead and stage and never take it out of first...and it works every time.

You have to be completely stopped with no movement whatsoever, engage the clutch while in gear, rev it up see the needle bounce, then let the clutch out. I tried it when I first got my IX, and i didn't realize I was rolling back a little since I was on a hill. Gotta be completely still bro. BTW it revs to about 5k and bounces from there.

Make sure the gas is flogged all the way, you'll make more boost that way.

I don't think your trick is correct, because when I dragged, I would pull up to the light in first, stage, then 2 step. I don't recall pulling it into neutral and then putting it in first. You have to be completely stopped for it to work.

It's the only way I could get it to work. I would roll to a stop in first... CLUTCH ALL THE WAY DOWN. be at a complete stop, and hit the gas, and it would go to 7K. I would then put it in neutral, then back into first, and hit the gas and it would go to 5K and hold.

I never released my clutch from the roll to the final launch.

I don't know, but that's the only way it would work for me.

OK, just went out again to prove you all wrong... and figured out where I went wrong. I was rolling to a stop, then I floored it, again it would hit redline. I would then switch to neutral, back to first and it would work.

I did this three times with the same results.

On the 4th time, I sneezed after I rolled to the stop, then floored it, and it went to 6K, then dropped down to 5K and held...

I then repeated the whole process, rolled to a stop and counted to three, then floored it, and it rapped out to 5K and held.

It turns out that I was just being too anxious in hitting the gas after I rolled to a stop... the shifting to neutral and back was just giving me a delay in time for the stationary limiter to engage.

Thank you all for your help.

wow i guess the IX is differnt then because a "stationary rev limit" just checks for the VSS to be at 0mph and it will adjust the rev limit accordingly. Personally mine works whenever stationary, in gear or not, clutch in or not it ALWAYS works when at 0mph then as soon as i hit 1mph its back up to regular. If there is a question about this i can go out and take a video but im sure the 03's are differnt in this aspect.

Yours works like that because you have an 03. On the 05-06's you have to have the clutch in for it to work.

Mine works whether it's in gear or not, as long as the clutch is engaged and I'm completely stopped.
