Started car with MAF disconnected
Forgot to plug it in before I started it. Shut it off after about 5 seconds, plugged it back in and now the light is on. Is this a light that will go off by it self after a number of starts or will I have to have it turned off? I know, dumb move
at least you already know....
and knowin is half the battle say...
its really not that big of a deal. the light may go off with regular driving but if you want just disconnect that battery and reset the ecu.
I drove a neon across the shop i worked at with the TPS unplugged as well as the maf haha.

If you use a code reader, you will actually see that you get like 3-4 codes when you start the car with the MAF plug disconected.
Re-set the ECU to get read of them. Disconect battery ~ 1 minute.

Dont reset your ecu that is the last thing you want to do.....just do your normal driving it will go off with a few cycles of turning the ignition on driveing turning off and so forth do that three times it will be gone but dont reset ecu.

You can disconnect the battery and reset it and it'll be fine. You'll lose all your radio presets though. You can also just drive the car and after a few cycles it'll turn off.
My MAF went out on me during a Mtn. run and the way i figured it out was i disconnected the maf and it idled fine. Just FYI... That sucked... I was about 100 miles from home too...

I did that too...after installing intake, FMIC, and LICP....should have seen me checking for boostleaks at midnight in the dark...then it dawned on me...makes the car run like a turd...glad to see it hasn't happened just to me.
They can, but most of the time they wont cause its tampering with it and if someone from the emissions board happens to be watching that shop (and it happens) than they can get fined for it. Best thing to do if it doesnt go off by itself in a few days is to get the code checked again. If its still the same code and the cars running fine than just disconnect the battery and it'll clear the code out.
