EXTREEME NOON QUESTIONS!!!! (intake)

^^^^such a noob i can't even type noob

whats up guys!

alrighty i am a new EVO IX owner and am basically looking for some input on BASIC mods...just bolt on stuff to get small gains in power make the car sound better/beefier and parts that wont kill MPG's cus i commute everyday.

i would most like to hear what people think about the different intake systems out there, ive been looking on the interwebs and cant seem to find many CAIs or intake kits for the IX...mostly for the VIII

just remember kids this is my main driver so i cant afford to have it out of commission for an extended ammout of time, and i have a baby on the way so money is an issue

any help/input/direction/links to good sites would be very appreiated

Thanks Much,
-Ryan

Couple things:

1) Welcome to the site

2) Go to Buschur, AMS, or any other reputable vendor in the vendor listing on this site. Ones such as Buschur and AMS as well as GSC have staged upgrades for you car at affordable prices.

3) Search

Ok the intake is the last thing you should start with. It will require a tune as well.

I would say start with a catback or turbo back exhaust.... what are your goals for the car? Or do you just want it to sound cool?

First: Searching is your friend. You'll find more answers there - especially basic questions like this. Look in the "Newbie" forum.

Second: Don't bother with an intake until you have replaced the exhaust and are ready for a tune. Get a full turbo-back (TBE) and the sound will be much beefier.

Search is your friend but I was in your shoes once so I will help you.

First I would start with the exhaust as others have mentioned.

Port stock exhaust manifold - Optional
02 housing
downpipe = 3inch
high flow cat or test pipe = 3inch
cat-back = 3inch

Next set of mods should be.
Boost Gauge if you don't already have one
Walboro 255 fuel pump
Manual Boost Controller
HKS RS Suction Intake or Buschur Racing Intake
Lower Intercooler Pipe
Have all these parts installed and then get a Tune Immediately.

You will be happy with the end result just look at my sig.

The JUN B.L catback is a great sound/flowing exhaust with exceptional quality!

We can port your stock manifold for $65!
Our lower i/c pipe is an excellant choile!

We also have a filter and maf adapter that you can use with your stock intake pipe!

as long as you have a cat and your exhaust isnt super loud you should be fine
