Help with emissions test in Denver

Car did not pass the hydrocarbon level. I think it got 2.7?

I have HKS 264/272 set at +3/0
Vishnu full exhaust with high flow cat.

My plan is to install the stock exhaust and change the plugs.
Should I do anything to the cam timing? Could I add additives?

Any suggestions would help.

Sigfrid

Wow... They actually check hydrocarbon levels? In most states they just plug it into the OBD II port and let that be that. Def. change the exhaust back to stock. If your using a test pipe or HFC than change that as well. If that doesnt do it than pull the timing back a bit and you should be good. You may want to just go ahead and pull the timing back to be on the safe side.

Since when did Colorado resume emission testings? It was eliminated in january of this year as far as I know.

Cheers-

don't you know cams will make the emission worse? and you should have done everything you can before going to state inspection, such as plugs, put stock catalyst converter back etc. otherwise you should have gone to the private inspection.
With the high flow cat, of course you won't pass inspection b/c you have cams.

emissions

Anyone know what the best cam setting would be to pass emisions? I would assume the least overlap the better.

I did not take it to the emissions test. I sold the car and the new owner is having problems. I said I would help.

I will help him change the pugs and the exhaust on Friday. I wanted to try and set the cams for the best possible result.

Help. And thanks for the suggestions.

Colorado eliminated emissions testing in most "non-metro-Denver" areas. Tell your buyer to move to Ft. Collins

I had to do something like this in GA with my 240sx. I had swapped an SR20 w/o thinking about emissions and my county required emissions so i "moved" to a friends house in county w/o emissions. I had to have my cell phone bill sent to his house and than go get my license changed to his address and then i just went and paid my taxes and that was that. He should be able to do the same since he goes to school in an area that doesn't require emissions.

Littleton does.
Only smaller counties and the springs/foco are exempt from testing.
New cars are exempt from testing for 5 years from either build date or purchase date, Im not sure.

Larimer County does NOT have emissions. You're good to go if you register it in Ft. Collins.

If you want to get the car tuned, contact JustDSM, who lives in Cheyenne, about 1 hour from you. Capable guy.
