loud noise car dies??

Ok lets clear up a little mis-information. It is not the knock sensor. Our cars are equipped with harmon kardon based Mass air Flow sensor. It does not directly measure air flow per se. It measures waves and frequencies of air. This is why the stock air inlet tube is ribbed, to give the MAF an easy time of metering the air. When a loud boom like a big block or something generates sound waves it tricks the MAF sensor into thinkink that there is more air coming in then there actually is and the car tries to add fuel to compensate and the car stumbles for a bit. I recently had problems with my AMS intake pipe casuind teriibel idle and stalling. Sure I could have tuned around it, but why? I put the stock rubber hose back in with a reducer from the pipe to my 50 trim and it is back to stock like driveabilitly. I do not think that there is a bit of restriction in the stock rubber intake either. Standalones are however another story.

I have the same issue with the car freaking out with loud noises! I run an Injen intake/cone filter. Does anyone have a fix for this problem ??..other than changing the pipes back to stock. Does this occur with an after market airbox..or only with the Cone filter setup? Are there aftermarket MAF's that work??? Thanks, Pete
