Redline Oil Vs. OEM

Ok guys, I have an Evo9 Im at 15K now. My dealer tells me that since I live in Extreme conditions inorder to keep my drivetrian under waranty I have to change my Tranmission, Diferential, and transfer case fluid ever 15k. I live in Reno Nv. They want $400 to do the service! And they wont sell me OEM fluid by the Qt they only have in in 55gal drums they say. So I called Redline today, they told me what oils to get. Has anyone used Redline? Any problems, is it better thant OEM Mitsu Stuff? Any info would be great, Thanks. Redline recomended Redline 75W90 for the diff and transfer case and a blend of Redline MTL and Redline MT90 for the Tranny.

Hello, from reno too....... I wouldnt listen to Allison about anything. They have no clue what they are talking about with our evos. Most people here usually stick with Redline Diff and TC oil for these conditions. When my clutch was upgraded, they only used Redline MT90 vs OEM.

Thanks! Im going to run the Redline oil then. I hate Allison thats why Im doing it myself. Do the weights sound correct? MT90 and MTL in the Tranny and 75w90 in the TC and Diff?

In the tranny use what you will but in the transfercase and rear diff use only oem fluids. Time and time again people have used other than oem fluids in the transfercase and rear diff and then they are buying a new transfercase wondering what happened. mitsubishiparts.net you can order the oem fluids. Also try another dealership. I shopped around to all the mitsu dealers and got a 5qt jug of diaqueen for $50. In the tranny I use bg sycroshift II but think I might try the amsoil synthetic tranny fluid for the next change. I change my fluids evry 10,000 miles due to all the horror storys with the drivetrain that Ive heard about.

So you think oem LSD fluid is the way to go? This is why Im asking I dont want to mess anything up. Redline will work in the Tranny?

That is not correct. You cannot use the same fluids in the tranny as you would in the TC and Rdiff. I suggest Diaqueen for the TC and rear diff.
Redline would be suffice for your tranny.

I wasn't saying the same fluids go in the tranny and transfer case. I said use what you will in the tranny(oem tranny fluid-not the same daiqueen put in tc and rear diff-I never said it was, Bgsychroshift II, gm sycromesh, amsoil synthetic tranny fluid, redline, whatever) but if you put anything other than the oem daiqueen in the transfer case and rear diff you will be buying yourself a new transfer case sooner than later. Personally I use bgsycroshift II in the tranny and oem in the rear diff and transfer case.

Where did you get that I said its the same fluids all around?

Am I the only one that interprets this correctly? To me it sounds like you can use your choice of tranny fluid but stick with diaqueen in the transfercase and rear diff which is the right way to go.

you can buy all the stock fluids needed from reputable Mitsu dealers by the gallon, which is what I'd recommend. Use the dealers that advertise here on evom, or even the major parts sellers who advertise here also. You don't have to buy it in 55 gal. quantities, that's just flat out wrong. Do it youself for much much less.
