Turbo timer, fans not running when key out

I installed a turbo timer a few weeks ago but I did not hook up the e-break and did not car about it. The only problem I have is that when the key is out and the timer is running the fans do not come on. I know this is not a huge deal but I want to make sure the car does not sit there and cook. Any ideas? It's a greddy turbo timer.

Thanks!

You didn't hook up the e-brake but yet you turbo time your car? How are you going to keep it from rolling down a hill if you park on any little bit of incline?

I use the e-brake. I just did not hook up the sensor so that when you take the e-brake off it kills the car.

Yeah, I am an idiot. I didn't even realize what I wrote when I posted it. It's been a long day and it isn't even noon yet.

No biggie, any idea why the fans don't run?

Fans worked fine with my greddy full auto timer. But I unhooked it because I had some stalling problems and it loked the the harness was not correct for the evo.

The problem I have is when I take out the key the AC stops working as well as the fans but the radio still works fine. Dono what is not hooked up correctly.

This seems strange, have you tested it with the timer off? Do the fans still run when the timer is turned off and the car is just idling? I can't see the effects that installing a turbo timer would do to the fans, unless you did not ground, but still I could see your timer getting a spark, but not the fans. I believe the Greedy is the same set up as the HKS so if it's like my Type I than you connected wires to the ecu via rpm sensor wire and speed sensor wire so this should have no impact on the fans either. It's a temperature sensor (i'm assuming this) that would turn the fans on and off. There are times when commuting back and forth to work (70 miles one way) that the fans don't always come on while I'm letting it cool even before the timer install, it just all depends on the heat and humidity and obviously how hot it is under the engine. I've never noticed the temperature guage going up unless it started off cold, but it always stays the same no matter if the fans turn on or off. Once I install an oil temp. guage then that would tell me more. I would check the wires going to and from the fan and make sure they are all connected properly, you might have a short and or cut in the wire that is effectively happening sometimes.

The fans work fine when the ket is in it and it's cooling down. I did this yesterday, drove it hard parked it then then fans came on. Pulled the key and the fans turned off, put the key back in and the fans came back on. Again the AC will not run with the key out. I dono it seems strange to me but i did not install it.

This could in some way be your problem, but I don't see how. When you didn't hook the e-brake wire up, did you instead just ground out that wire directly or just leave it not connected. My theory is somehow it is keeping the signal to the fans from making it there, but it is letting the signal to keep the car running pass. Strange sounding - I know - but I have seen electronics do worse than that for no damn good reason. If you didn't at least hook up the e brake wire to ground, try doing that and let us know.

Sounds like your sending voltage to the wrong line when the key is off and the timer is running. The Evo has two ignition leads and one acc lead. CHeck your tt manual to see which you should tie into.

I posted a diagram formtech info that will give you the color codes. Search this (troubleshooting) forum a post called double check my turbo timer wiring. I just bumped it to the top to save you from having to search.

Ebrake line is input only and if it detects a voltage change when the timer is running the car it will kill the output voltage signal.... but maybee the timer itself is not outputting the correct voltage.

And what would happen if the line wasn't tied to ground at all? Would the turbo timer even function? Probablynot. I am just thinking he must have some static signal somewhere that is hard to trace out. Actually ebrake line isnt a "voltage change" sensing line. If it is tied to ground, it is closed circuit, if it is not tied to ground, it is an open circuit. There is a difference in ground and zero volts.

Do you have a plug and play harness or did you splice do get this timer in?

Fan's not running... radiator fan you mean? it goes on and off automatically and you can't control it.

The point of having a turbo timer is keep the engine running so it keep oil to recirculate through the turbo thus cool it down.

fans and AC run after removal of the key with my Blitz TT/harness... I think I agree with Mad_VIII...
