What is oem valve retainer to stem seal clearance?

Does anyone know for certain how much lift it will take for the oem valve spring retainer to come in contact with the oem valve stem seal?

I see that cosworth offers a valve spring that can be used with the oem retainers

http://www.cosworthusa.com/store/pc/...9&idproduct=86

the website claims that the springs dont coil bind till over 12.0mm

I just want to know if it is possible to achieve ~11.5 lift with the oem retainer if i were to persue something like that.

if someone in the socal area has a evo 8 cylinder head off a car, i will gladly go over & take measurements & post the results.

TIA

Interesting find. I've known about these for awhile now:

Makes me wonder if they're the same thing. From what I understand there isn't a Ti retainer on the market that is lighter than the OEM aluminum retainer.

I can't answer your question with any authority, but I've seen 'somewhere' that retainer to seal clearance limits total lift to about .445" with factory valvetrain geometry.
