Tranny locked in 5th, yay!

I replaced the stock clutch & flywheel a week ago. Everything felt fine, although I noticed I was leaking a good amount of fluid where the TCase bolts to the Tranny.

I went to drain the TCase and it barely anything came out. Then, I realized there were two loose bolts on the top of the TCase. I took out the axles, checked the seals, reinstalled (ensuring I tightened all bolts this time) and re-filled the TCase.

Two days later, I'm crusing in 5th on the highway and I felt a slight hesitation in the drivetrain. I thought it was odd, but my exit was next up, so I continued. When taking the exit, I realized I couldn't get it out of 5th. The clutch works, because I can free rev with the clutch disengaged, but the tranny is definitely locked in 5th, the shifter WILL not move out of gear.

I had it towed and it sounds like I'll be calling Shep soon. The part that sucks is I just spent a ton of money on race prep... tires, rotors, pads, all fluids, roll bar, harness, extinguisher, magnetic numbers, helmet, suit, gloves, shoes, sequential shift light, new suspension, new turbo, etc...

I had $5500 in mods going in this month alone. Now I'm just not in the mood to spend more money. I'll probably wait until next year.

If it is leaking from the seal where the tcase bolts to the tranny then you messed up the seal there. Worst case scenario you are swapping fluids between the tcase and trans.

Linkage is good.... basically, I thought I was leaking TCase fluid, but I'm guessing it was actually Tranny fluid.

Cruising on the highway, I'm sure 5th is now welded to the shaft. The shifter feels like mud with very little movement, and the tranny is permanently stuck in 5th.

I need Shep

tranny fliud, if you have a IX, you forgot or pinched the small o-ring that goes on the small orifice on the T-case in between tranny and T-case , this is for the ACD

i had the same thing the seal right by the cv's in there is a vein of fluid from the tranny that goes through the xcase. my seal went bad after pulling it all out to swap the motor lol. it leaked out i thought it was the xcase too but turns out it was trans locked in 5th and now i have a TRE stage 2 haha.

Your so far off its not even funny.

I'd agree with Shame that the small o-ring allowed him to leak out the majority of his tranny fluid, and its now welded
