Can/should I use these cams?

I just bought these HKS 272's. They were a very good price, but the one cam has some imperfections/damage. Here are the links to pics(very big pictures).

Is that a gouge or is it pretty surface level? you try wiping it off or anything?

Its a gouge. No sharp edges and I think there is enough surface for the roller to ride on. It can't be polished out, its to deep.

i would never use a piece of hardware like that, FYI,,,, as soon as you mess with the integrity of metal,,, cracks can propagate very quick specially under the loads and speeds these cams will go under.

Yeah, don't risk anything with cams. If the gouge is on one of the lobes, and it is, it could mess up your rocker arms, timing, etc. Who knows what could happen.

Yeah, I put them in a spare head and it seems to ride OK I just don't know what RPM will do to them. Exhaust cam is good yet. I spose that makes them worth $150.
