strange noise when taking off in 1st

Hi everyone. I was wondering if someone can relate to this or help me out with this problem. I have an 03 evo 8. When I turn my car on everything is fine I let it warm up fully and then go drive. After driving for a little when I come to a stop I give it a little rev or when I go to take of in first the best way I can describe the noise is like something rattling loose like metal against metal almost with like a little grinding noise from what I can best describe coming from between the engine and the cat. Now when it makes the noise I feel no vibration coming from the clutch pedal or shifter or gas pedal and the performance of the car has not decreased at all. Now it only makes the noise after I take off in first and for 1 second but it will not make the noise anywhere else in the rpm band and it also makes the noise when I give it a little rev at idle. Now here is the wierd part if after I drive and I let the car sit for a little at idle the noise will go away like today I sat in my drive way and gave it little revs at idle so I can hear the noise better and as I kept giving it little revs probably a minute or two after, the noise went away, but as soon as I go and drive for a little the noise comes back. Sorry for the long post, I know that our cars make a lot of funny noises but this one has me stumped and a little worried so if anyone can help me out that would be
great!. Thanks!

what mods do you have done? if you have a downpipe, have you checked clearence between the downpipe and 2 crossmember bars? check all of the exhaust and make sure it isnt touching anything.

Yea I will check the heat shield again I checked it before but I will again and I will check the down pipe clearance. I made an appointment at the dealer to see what they think it might be they will not be working on it just checking it out. But thanks for all your inputs! I will write back and let you guys know the outcome of this.
