vacuum hose for boost gauge

i am removing my stock sports meter off of my IX MR this weekend to install the orbital kit. i havent looked behind it yet, but i assume there is a vacuum hose connected to the boost gauge. i also assume that since its a "vacuum hose" leaving the end of the open isnt a good idea. am i wrong?

what should i do with that hose opening after i remove the gauges?

Just wait till you get a new gauge and attach it to that, no point in taking out the hoses, plugging it, and then having to run it again.

You don't want to leave that hose open to the atmosphere. I think that would be a boost leak wouldn't it? I'd plug the open hose end with a tight fitting peg, such as a golf tee or fine thread machine screw and then yank a nylon zip tie right up tight around it.

For me a boost gauge is the basic mod. Actually, all turbocharged/supercharged cars should be equipped with one. Why would you want to drive around w/o a boost gauge anyway? Is the "Orbital kit" a video screen receptacle for the dashboard? What do you mean that you don't know when you'll get a boost gauge again? Get real, man!

Go to Advanced or Autozone. They sell Autometer mechanical boost gauges for like $40-50. They'll be accurate enough for now and aren't very expensive. You NEED a boost gauge. I can't believe my car didn't come with one. Must have for any turbo vehicle. Bad decision on Mitsu's part, but I got to pick my own out rather than replacing one (Metric units in the MR and RS gauge packs ).
