pretty simple clutch question
pretty simple clutch question
I go to the track A LOT! Just lost my stock clutch a few weeks ago and I've been doing my research.
I don't want to spend the money on a twin disk, I think it's a little rediculous if I'm only making 280 whp. If I have to ease off the track, then I will seeing as this car is my daily driver.
I'm gonna be installing a gt30 pretty soon and I need a clutch that is going to be reliable AND able to hold the power. Any suggestions? (NOT a twin disk) Keep in mind it's my daily driver. I don't believe in letting a car I have a loan on sit in my driveway

I know you don't want to hear it, but if you track often and are going to be making big power on a GT30, there really is no substitute for the Exedy. The clutch is the last thing you want to sell yourself short on.
well what if I ease off the track for a bit? I don't really like drag racing anyways haha. How will a standard style clutch hold up?

I have the cusco version of the exedy twin disk on my daily driver. I have heard that unless you go with a twin (which is rebuildable) then you will make up for the cost with either broken transmission /transfer case parts or replacing the clutch in a year or two of daily driving/ track weekends. I look at it like this, buy the better part initially and only cry once!
If I had to go with a single disk I would probably go with a exedy single disk since they are the OEM supplier.

I heard the Exedy twin disk is really noisy, ie chattering, vibration, lots of bucking off throttle, etc. Generally a rougher, more race style clutch. Is that true? I heard the actual pedal effort is surprisingly light for its hold, but regardless, it isn't really designed for a DD clutch. Can someone who owns one on a DD chime in?
(Sorry for the thread Hijack BTW)
