HELP!!! oil in intercooler and only boosting 12psi!!!!

Ok well this past saturday me and a friend who also owns an evo installed my autometer boost gauge, after we hooked it up we took it for a test drive to see how it was working and my car is only boosting 12PSI, we made sure there were no kinks in the line and everything, im guessing there is a boost leak somewhere, also, today we replaced the stock FMIC with a Turbo XS FMIC and as we took off the LICP wthere was a little bit of oil going from the LICP into the FMIC, im guessing bad turbo seal, but i dont know, Your help would be greatly appreciated!!

The oil could be blow-by from not having a catch can.

If you just installed a boost gauge and now you can't boost past 12psi, there is a leak or you altered the factory vac. line setup when you tapped the gauge.

How did you run the gauge vac. line?

most likely the previouse owner replaced the stock boost control solenoid with a mbc or ebc installed. when he/she sold it they used regular vaccume hose to hook up the stock boost control solenoid. the problem is, the stock boost control solenoid vaccum lines have small brass pills inside to control boost. right now you are only boosting wastegate pressure so youll need to buy the stock vaccum lines ($25 or so) or a mbc.

I agree so far, depending how lines are routed it is very possible oil is being drawn back into the intake. If you can rule that out then you probably want to take your intake tube off and check the shaft play. If you were to grab your turbo shaft with your thumb and index fingers you want to check the side to side but, more importantly the front to back play. If you have too much play it's possible the thrust bearing could be bad. I'm sure you will find out as soon as you pull off the intake.

Ive heard about the pills being in the lines, but if I were you, get a catch can anyway. Dont wanna ruin that brand new intercooler

You said "a little bit of oil" if it was a blown seal there would be more that that. Pull the intake off the turbo and see if you have oil there coming from the breather..
