MR T-case and Rear Diff OEM oils

I'm trying to make this thread to induce a clarification on this topic once and for all. There are quite a few people that have stated that the OEM fluids for the MR and the non-MR's may not be the same... so here's what I found out from the searching I've done so far....

First Off...
Even though the transmission is not the primary topic at hand, why not mention it real quick. It seems that there are two options for OEM transmission fluid. One of them is strictly for the 5-speed transmissions and one for the 6-speed transmissions. From what I've gathered, it's safe to stick with the 6-speed transmission fluid for both. This fluid being the:

DiaQueen 75W85 Manual Transmission Fluid with part number MZ313376.

So, for the transmission fluid, my question is this: Is it really okay to use this fluid for both the 5 and 6 speed transmissions?

Now for the primary concern of this thread. Fluid for the transfer case and rear limited slip differencial for the MR models.

I have some conflicting information that I think would be best to be brought to light and clarified.

Initially, I was under the understanding that the OEM fluid to use for the transfer case and rear LSD would be the Diaqueen LSD Gear Oil SAE 90:

DiaQueen LSD Gear Oil SAE 90 with part number 3775610

However, as I'm sure many can be easily made aware by doing a simple search on here, there is some disagreement with this. It seems that, for whatever reason, the MR model transfer cases should not use this oil. It seems that everyone agrees that this is the correct gear oil for the t-case and LSD for the non-MR versions though, so for all the 5-speeders out there, I'm pretty sure you can stick to this. According to Lancershop however, the SAE 90 gear oil is not the right one for the MR. In fact, they are selling the Super Multi Gear Oil used in the MR 6-speed transmissions as their Evolution MR 8/9 DiaQueen Super Multi Gear Oil for the transfer case and rear limited slip. What makes it even more interesting is this quote right off there website....(link provided)

But if you notice, that provided Mitsu part number is in fact the part number of the 6-speed transmission fluid as i stated earlier. So wait a second... according to LancerShop, we're supposed to use the tranny fluid for the t-case, rear lsd and NOT use it for the transmission?

I know there are a ton of after market options, but I want this thread to cater specifically to OEM fluid users of the MR demographic. So here is the final question: Should the MR drivers put transmission fluid in all of their transmission, t-case and LSD? Or should we stick to using the SAE 90 for the t-case and LSD? I'm by far no expert, so please, some good input (especially from the guru's out there) would be highly appreciated. Lets put this to rest.

Transfer case and Rear Diff use: Diaqueen LSD Gear Oil SAE 90

Transmission regardless 5 speed or 6 use: DiaQueen 75W85 Manual Transmission Fluid

Both 6 speed and 5 speed use the same trans oil. The reason the 6 speed has problems in some cases is because the extra gear in the trans doesnt allow enough oil to be put in and causes over heating issues when hard core tracked.

Put transmission oil in the transmission only. And use the LSD oil for the transfer case and rear diff only.

Your thinking Lancershop is talking about the Transfer Case, they are not. Theyre talking about the transmission and it sounds like your confused between the transfer case and transmission. Stop thinking the MR owners are special.

The tranny can take BG (although I wouldn't run it in the 6-speed) or oem 75w85.

The transfer case, (which is not the tranny, your getting this confused), can ONLY run the oem 90w regardles of MR, RS, GSR, blah.

Its been known for years they are different. MR use super diaqueen which is a 75W85 and the 5sp uses regular diaqueen which is 75W90. Altought the 5sp can use the MR fluid its not vice versa for the 6sp. The MR fluid is much higher quality over the regular 75W90 fluid.

I tend not to agree with that no matter what mitsu parts tell me..It is (diaqueen super-multi) a totally different oil then what was originally used (super diaqueen) in the MR transmission.. I had to do the legwork to have the dealer order the 5 gallon drum of the "original" gear oil for the 6 speed before they said it wa ok to use something totally different and easier for everyone involved to sell.. I actually have 3 quarts of this in my basement in clear plastic food containers..Have fun getting it from the dealer, they will hate you for it..
Side by side, both of the diaqueens look similar but the original super diaqueen smells stronger and is slightly darker the the diaqueen super multi..

Actually there isn't anything to be confused about here. I am well aware of exactly what to use where. I just wanted to get this thread rolling to put an end to controversy. I don't think anyone can misunderstand what Lancershop's website is suggestion. To put it in a less PC way (which is what I did before by presenting the question) they are flat out wrong.

I've been using pennzol synchromesh, front of the car on ramps filled to the bottom of the filler hole. Shifts smooth as buttah.

If you're talking about OEM fluid then this is what you want:
DiaQueen 75W85 Manual Transmission Fluid with part number MZ313376. For your transmission.
DiaQueen LSD Gear Oil SAE 90 with part number 3775610. For your transfer case and rear-diff

Personally, I like the OEM fluids. It's all I ever run in my car and it holds up well. The other thing to keep in mind, is if you are intent on racing your car, it's always a good idea to decrease your fluid change intervals. Changing it a little more often in race application will never do anything but help

If you want a good price on these, I can easily recommend RussellM. He's been my source for OEM parts from day one and has proven to be a stand up guy every time
