Electric water pump

Will I get any advantage by installing an electric water pump? More horsepower? Better reving?... If so what will be the correct one.

Buschur I believe has a kit with plate for the stock waterpump blockoff. Yes you should make more HP with an external pump..

It will make you a bit more HP, it is a great mod to do if you are trying to max out a setup.

Removing the factory water pump is not a real easy task, not if you intend to retain the a/c and power steering anyway.

Yes it frees up some horsepower. Unless you are going for some type of record and are just maxed out on what you can do to the car right now for that record there are better things you can do to the car.

What do I have to do if I want to keep the A/C and power steering? What else can be done besides meth, cams and a bigger turbo (all this not installed yet). My car have TBE, EBC and a reflash and I can't run better than 12.4 with 1.67 60ft.

If you want to keep your a/c then changing to an electric pump in my opinion is a waste of time. Running 12.4's is also a case where the expense of an electric water pump is not money well spent.

I can't tell you how long the pump will hold up on a daily driver. It hasn't been done enough, had enough miles or years put on it to find out. I have never had one of these pumps fail but they are on limited use race cars.

DB what electric water pump do u use if you don't mind me asking. is it Davis Craig electric pump? they have a web site but it seems to be down today. http://www.daviescraig.com.au

i saw on a vr4 forums a car that has this. looks pretty straight forward except that i didn't see how he blocked the original mechanical water pump.

here is a link to their brochure. http://www.hrpworld.com/client_image...ader/747_1.pdf

Just buy a remanufactured pump for under $100 from a parts store and save yourself the time, expense, and hassle (unless you're trying to build a maxed out actual track car).

An electrical pump is always going to be more efficient than a mechanical pump, you could possibly trigger it to stay on and cool your motor down for a little longer after your motor is off. But is it really worth what it'll take to mod or cost for only about maybe 5 HP? Unless if you running under 10 will it only make a difference in my opinion. Even the word "electrical" sounds expensive enough already... lol... Plus with PS and AC still there it won't really make a diff...

Now if you could make an electrical pump that ran all three... that would be a little more interesting... but IMO invest in a bigger turbo maybe...
