700cc fuel injectors
700cc fuel injectors
I'm planning to install 700cc injectors into my evo 7, i've baught all the other stuff that i needed to have to install the bigger injectors, e.g fuel pump, fuel rail, fuel regulator, I'm also goin to be installing a thicker metal head gasket from 1.0mm to 1.2mm so that i would be able to run higher boost. I've already got a fully mapable MOTEC ECU. my first question is that how much more power will i get with bigger injectors if the mapping is done right and how hight boost can i go to..
I hope you don't consider this hijacking your thread, but did you do the calculations to determine what your new compression ratio will be with that gasket?
I'm not sure the bigger injectors by themselves will give you more power. I think they will allow you to run to higher RPM before fuel cut, but that is also dependent on boost. Now coupled with your higher boost, the uprated injectors should give you more power. You can probably safely run 20, but I am not sure what the turbo is capable of running particularly at higher RPMs.
As a side note, if your upping the boost, have you gone to an uprated IC?

If you've got a Motec, I'd say try maybe 24 psi (you might want to try race gas first). I'd think you'd be safe up to 22 psi on pump (94 octane, right?). As long as you monitor knock you should be fine.
What kind of regulator is it? I don't think the fuel rail is necessary and in fact, 700cc injectors are a bit overkill on a 16g turbo. You don't really need anything over 660's at the most (reason I say this is because one of the DSM guys runs an EVO III big 16g and he's maxing out his 550's... this turbo is bigger than your stocker).
Mitsubishi factory head gaskets for the 4g63 are very good, I'm not sure why you'd want to switch to a metal with different height. It's not going to do anything for handling boost because I'll tell you right now I'm sure that stocker is going to hold more boost than the stock turbo can make. A lot of fast DSM's use nothing but stock Mitsu head gaskets (and ARP studs).

I like the stock head gasket also - it was good on my evo with an oringed block up to 30 psi with no sweat
Also - i agree that the 660's will be sufficent with a stock turbo. You can run the 660's up to 24 psi also on a 3037s. After that you need closer to 800 to get about 550 to the crank hp.

You guys are assuming you know the octane he is using.
How about other mods. Exhaust, IC, turbo, etc.

i'm using 98psi octane and i can now raise my boost to around (1.5bar) i donty know how much is that in PSI. I've already got a blitz 3inch exhaust system and a metal mesh air filter. What turbo should i go for to get around 450-500hp
The HKS 3037S kit is top quality. I have yet to see anything on the market that performs as well although there a quite a few kits out that look to be about 95% of that for about $1~2k less.
Your question is "how much more power with injectors". I would say it will depend on how you tune. The tuner's ability with that MoTeC will make a huge impact. Your safety margin must also be considered.
1.5 bar = 14.5 x 1.5 psi
Your octane is RON, yes? Or is it (RON+MON)/2?
BTW, you may want bigger injectors to make 450~500. I would shoot for 900's or so.

i'm using 96octane which is pretty high compared to the fuel u guys have in the US.
by the way would i have to change any of my engine internals when i change the turbo? and what cams should i use?]
