Get the forge motorsports recirculating BOV. It is available in polished or black ! Let me know if you want one. It is, as far as I know, the only "bolt on" BOV for the Evo and is not crazy loud !! I would recommend buying the spring set with it. This gives you different springs w/ softer rates so you can modify the BOV because on some Evos, it flutters. Different spring = no fluttering !

Why does it flutter with some springs? If it flutters do you put in softer springs or harder?

 

Greddy Type-s work fairly well too, its adjustable and not too much more than the forge.

 

i have the greddy type s but it just doesnt seem right on the evo. i had this bov on my last car and i know what it should sound like when VTA. when i installed it in the evo, these is a high pitched whistle when i am in boost. it sounds like there is a leak somewhere but all the hoses are tight as can be.
i am running the stock air box and venting to the intake pipe.
also, when i let off, it makes this gay high pitched sound.
again, i know what this bov should sound like because it was on my turbo focus.
idle and drivablity is completely fine.

anyone's type s sound like this? any suggestions?

I just got a Forged recirculating BOV from emil at www.renn-art.com
I dought u can get better sevice anywhere else. He's the nicest dude, he answered all my annoying questions via email and responed immediatly to my emails at 2 am!! There was a lil processing delay so he gave me 10% off my next order. Also the forged BOV comes with the tuning kit now so you don't have to order it seperatly.
Emil said that just recently the forged BOV has been redesigned with a new piston and seals to make it better performing.

 

how much boost is the type s good for? might have to move to the type r.

it's not that loud but it works great and does have that wossh sound

The re-circ does make noise. I still have the stock BOV and it makes a pretty good sound with my intake and pipe. I will keep the stock one for a while probably - then I'll get the Forge...
