Yeah, I over generalized there. From personal experiences my peeps and I never had good luck with the Defi and always liked the autometer but I'm sure the Defi works great for some. I got a little carried away by trying to make a price comparison point. My main point was that for $80 bux I hardly think a walbro is a waste of money. Apologies to the Defi owners

Spend your money on driver improvement. HPDE, time at the drag strip, auto-x, etc. You'll be much happier with your car, you'll learn the limits of what it/you can do, and you'll be one hell of a better driver as well.

i agree, sweating over a $80 part that is so important to the car is dumb

so is buying a 30,000 dollar car and spending thousands in mods but having a problem paying a few hundred for a professional tune to make sure it's safe and powerful

some people amaze me I think that's because a tune isn't tangible, maybe I'll start giving away a free lead weight with each tune so they'll feel like they got something they can touch.

when i installed my pump my afrs got slightly richer and had to be tweaked.

you could drive the car without a tune and be fine, but it would not be optimal

yes...the air fuel ratio is likely far off from where it should be.

You can always give them a "Tuned by Mellon" sticker. Or maybe some Autozone **** like "Powered by Mellon" with some cute flames or checkered flags.

Custom tuning would be the best bang for the $. If you are going flash tune, I suggest you get tuned by someone who reviews the logs and makes adjustments to the tune if needed for the application.

Have you had your car tuned by Buschur and Al?

If you're in Texas, I'd say to get a custom street tune by KevinD and then spend the rest of the money on a nice meal at a good establishment as his prices can't be beat.

That might not be what you are into or what you are looking for but it certainly isn't unintelligent. A full day on a decent road course will cost about $300 after track fees, gas, and preparing the car for the track (new fluids, etc.). My car is basically stock (half the parts in my sig aren't getting installed till next week) and it is a blast on the track. Just my $.02. Good luck with the upgrades (be it car or driver).
