GT35R to 30R

i have a 35r turbo kit but i was told that it is maxing out my stock maf, my motor is stock and now i must downgrade to a 30R. what turbo will bolt up to the manifold that has the fastest spoolup. for ex. is there a 30r turbo that spools faster than a 3071? ps does anybody have a turbo or turbo kit in arizona they would like to trade for mine? it is almost brand new, 4 mos. pm or email me at esammmorsy@yahoo.com

No way are you maxing out the stock ecu! Unless you are running huge injectors or a huge cam! PM Mellon and have him tune your car via Email Flash! He is running a 35R with Stock ECU and MAFS!

Esam, I get what your saying and I feel for you bro...

If your Turbo kit has a T3 flanged GT35R then you should be able to get a Turbo from ATP which is a direct swap... and keep the 35R spare...

No need to change your Turbo kit just do a Turbo swap.

With everyone punting the GT35R / HTA35R... I decided to go bigger and opted for the GT3076R over the GT3071R, and boy was I dissapointed with the spoolup...

Off and on Boost this Turbo is very soft compared to the Stock IX Turbo... Only reason I went for the GT3076R is because I am in the process of putting in a 2.3L stroker... and my goal is 500HP.

If I had to do it over again from scratch:
- GT3071R Turbo Setup (T3.78 Twin Scroll if u want to stay 2L otherwise T3 .63)
For more grunt:
- 2.3L Stroker Kit (Mines cost the same as a Green)

Its all about spoolup and power under the curve doesn't matter if you have to sacrifice 50HP to get this and you won't be sorry, thats what I recomend to my friends that don't want a ringer which is completely maxed out but rather a sleeper with safe mods.

After experiancing the GT3076R on the Stock Block 2L with std rev limiter and now that I've thought about it the GT3071R or BB 50Trim is more and more looking like the most appropriate Turbo for the boost levels I want to run 22-25psi and the maximum acceptable Lag I would consider 3500-3750rpm...

Anyway Good Luck and I hope you come right with your set-up...

.
ps. if you wana stay with the 35R and don't mind the Lag - then its worthwhile to note that there are plenty of guys running 35R's on the stock ECU...

I think you should take the tuners advice. Then sell me your 35 for...say....900 and get something different. But, if I were you I'd more research and keep the 35r.

I see you are in Phoenix metro. Have you been to see Mike at Mynes?

He is top notch on turbos and ECU tuning, and will give you straight up advice. IMO, the 35R should be reserved for 2.3L stroker motors. The biggest I would put on a 2.0L would be a 50 trim, but that just me. I'm sticking with the stock turbo for now and shooting for 400whp/400 trq.

Mynes drag car. SWEET!

Mike's handle on EvoM is "mwbmw".

LOL, I know what you mean but I'm hoping I can restrain myself and be happy with 500HP, otherwise I will have to change a lot of things...

For 700HP I would go for a totally new setup with a TS T04Z... Darnit see what you gone and done now.. hehehehe

No worries - I have a GM 4Cyl Drag car, hopefully I can contain myself...

I concur the best thing for Esam to do is chat to a professional who will help him chose the correct Turbo based on his specific needs boost, spoolup, acceptable lag, specific fuel and power goals its all about compromises at the end of the day anyway - and each person has their own set of unique needs...
