It's not possible for it to cause problems when the airbox is gone, because there is no sealed environment to cause a vaccuum. That's the whole point of why the problem occurs - read up.

It certainly does. Thank you for exemplifying it.

I read that, I just think that if you wear shoes that constantly come untied and you can get velcrow, why continue to keep tieing them and tripping?

I see no huge benefit to keeping it there other than to direct air flow into the intake. Seems like a burden and to me it's kind of an eye sore. So why not just remove it. No reason to argue about it, just personal preference. Whatever makes a car go fast in the end is my opinion, and I see alot of cars out there that don't run that factory snorkel....

That analogy makes absolutely no sense. The "snorkel syndrome" only occurs with the stock airbox and ONLY if you don't have the clips. There is no reason NOT to use it. There are no shoestrings. These are your velco straps that aren't strapped down.

Yes, that is the benefit - directs air to the intake. Why would that be a burden or eyesore? If it sends air directly to the filter, then isn't that what you would want? You said, "whatever makes a car go fast in the end." Then why all this talk about removing the snorkel for no reason? Of course you can go fast without it, but your reasoning for why he should remove it is null and void.

My reasoning it not "null and void"

If you continued to touch the stove and occasionally got burned, but could reach the top counters by using a standing stepping stool and eliminate getting burned if the top was hot, which would you prefer?? I sure do hope the latter!

The guy had the "SNORKEL SYNDROM" ... you may be correct in that that was his issue which was smart, but why continue to run something that could in the future cause the syndrome to appear once again? If the item is just removed he wont ever have to worry about it again.

I can't beleive you would argue about something like this. You do what makes your car run "fast" and others (AMS, ProccoEvo etc...) will do what they decide based on results.

To the OP, did your issue get resolved? You have two choices. Run the snorkel and risk the issue happening again, or you can simply remove it. The choice is up to you and you alone.

You obviously have no familiarity with this problem and have no idea what is happening. I suggest reading up on it so that you can realize why these analogies make no sense whatsoever. This is the best Barney-style version I can think of:

No clips holding the snorkel = Intake Snorkel Syndrome
Clips hodling the snorkel = No problems whatsoever

The clips do not randomly fall out - people take them out and don't realize the effect. The effect only occurs with the stock airbox and snorkel due to the suction/vaccuum effect. Therefore, none of these analogies make any sense, because there is no problem that re-occurs. The problem is not even POSSIBLE without the stock airbox, so that makes the analogies even less relevant.

The guy had the "SNORKEL SYNDROM" ... you may be correct in that that was his issue which was smart, but why continue to run something that could in the future cause the syndrome to appear once again? If the item is just removed he wont ever have to worry about it again.
There is no 'if.' It's cut and dry - anyone who knows Evos well knows this. You'd have to be very new to the Evo community to not know this. Running the snorkel does NOT risk the issue happening. If you work at an Evo shop, you HAVE to already know this - it's common knowledge. I would be really concerned if I went to an Evo-specific shop, and they weren't able to diagnose this within 5 seconds. I can diagnose it just by reading 3 words in the title usually.

I took the snorkel out the first week I had it after I installed an aftermarket intake.

Hmmm... I've never heard of it BECAUSE I'VE NEVER HAD THE PROBLEM!!!

Seems to me those who continue to have the problem or come across it HAVE THE SNORKEL...

Take the part out that is having the issue out of the equation, guess what - NO MORE PROBLEMS, OMFGBBQZORZ!!!

Hello? Knock Knock, McFly? Is there anyone home??

That is terrible reasoning, which would put anything you do into question. I would be very concerned letting you or anyone I know work on my car now that I've seen these responses.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I think you just don't like that my answer makes cents.
