On the street you want to get out of the hole quicker than you want to pull hard over 80mph. I think the cast hta would be your best bet. BTW I run the 3065 on 110 leaded. I dont have a 2.3 unfortunately, but I wouldn't think stepping up to the 35 would benefit you that much if it is mainly a street driven car.

Is there any real testing out there that shows the cast mani spools faster? Everyone seems to think this is the case, but I've never seen any actual testing, even from David.

^+1. I'd be very reluctant to get a cast manifold with the tubular option there, especially from a resale standpoint considering how ugly the cast manifolds get with age.

The great thing about the cast mani is you can make it look almost stock. No way is this possible with a tubular mani. This could be a big deal depending on where you live.

well celica2evo had experience with both kits and said there was about 2-500rpm faster spool with the cast mani kit and increased torque. no restrictions where i live so it does not matter if there is a tubular mani or cast mani in the engine bay.

i talked to someone a while back that went from a 3065r to a hta35r on the cast mani kit and they said they saw quite a bit increase in power, but im trying to find out how this comes to play compared to tubular mani, most of the time ive heard there is about 20-30whp difference, which seems to be not worth it compared to the faster spool and tq, although i know at some point (which is what im trying to find out) the fp housing on the cast mani kits becomes restrictive.

Im faced with the same dillemma right now..I have the cast 35r kit, but my tuner says that its holding me back and that I should opt for a tubular kit. Thats why I even put up my turbo kit for sale and have my eyes set on a full race kit up for grabs locally. But then again, if I send my turbo over to fp and get the HTA conversion done, wht gains am I looking at power wise?? and how much would I be sacrificing not going for the tubular setup??

I don't think anyone caught on to your sarcasm. I found it funny though

bump for more help! basically comes down to upgrading to tubular mani kit (maybe upgrade to indy intake mani in future) or sell it and get indy intake and upgrade my 3065r to a hta35r on cast mani.

I'm not sure about that, it depends on what the application is and how well the manifold is built. I have seen several cast manifolds crack, 2 of my own cars, and I have yet to see my friends Full-Race manifold crack after 3 years are serious abuse.

Tubular with the 5 bolt .63 housing. It spools just as fast as my bolt on hybrid 30r on my DSM with a cast mani. I usually hit 25 psi right around 4600 in 3rd gear. 4100 or 4200 in 4th.
