So I have a 04 evo 8 and here lately I have had a problem with a grind when going into 5th gear. I decide that it was time for a new clutch and got a act street disc kit. Even after 250 miles on install I have I still get the grind around 65 or more in 5th. Has anyone eles had this problem or know what it could be???

 

Common Synchro problem with 03-04 Evo VIIIs.
Time to get it rebuilt.

 

Dose anyone know how much it cost to get a synchro put in? Dose it call for me to rebuild the hole tran?

 

my tranny has been out 3 times for syncro's and is still not fixed. its a common problem, too comon. you could try to find somebody local to do it but if u want ur best results and bascily never have a problem again u will ahve to take out the tranny and send it to shep for a rebuild. good luck, if the tranny has never been out replace ALL syncros with the new ones. my 2-3 3-4 and 4-5 shifts all have grinded before.

damn, i figured the syncro's would be bad!! my Gf just bought a 06 ix on her own with out consulting with me. and sure enough the damn trans had the 5th gear grind. O well i'll rebuild it and update the clutch while it's down. Thanks for the info!
