Worth it to replace panel filter with a cone before tune?

Alright, I am debating right now whether or not the $70 or so would be worth it on replacing my k&n panel filter with a buschur cone filter. I have read many thread on this and still haven't truly made up my mind.

Car is an '05 evo 8.

4 wheel slide tune my car to 304 whp and 294 tq. The mods at the time were:
-megan downpipe
-megan test pipe
-k&n drop in filter
-forge unos mbc set at 22.5psi
-walbro 255 fuel pump

Since then I have added on:
-Ams lower i/c pipe
-helix catback
-IX diverter valve

I wanted to have the car retuned since I don't go to south florida very often and Tamer is the only tuner I will let touch my car.

So, should I go with the filter or not? The next mod will be cams but this will be further down the road. I have opted to keep the intercooler pipes stock and the intake pipe stock because I feel they really don't add much (unless a smaller battery is used).

Thanks,

Tyler

The tuner will probably be able to discuss the difference between the 2 setups, based upon actual experience, and advise on power gain within a certain rpm range

the thing about replacing the stock air box with a cone filter is that you will tend to run significantly higher IAT's.

one of my friends is very meticulous about logging his car, and has found that he gets much better performance from the stock airbox because of the cooler air coming in.

i would say to stick with your k&n drop in

Stick with the factory air box till you get around 350whp-400whp.

Think I saw someone on for sale had one.
Otherwise lots of places online, or like Shucks or something like that.

Thanks for the helpful info (minus the last two guys talking about buying air filters lol.)

I think I will just leave it as is then. Although, I do ride around without the top of the box on but the scoop is still there.
