I understand you like ETS, I do also I think they make very good stuff and have seen nothing but good things said from people on here. I merely think your statement was misleading to the overall question as to which LICP is best.

As you can see Iv been a member for awhile and I dont post a lot, so I certainly dont post to cause problems. Just trying to help the OP.

Well you assumed wrong. I could care less that you dont post that often on here either. I actually love AMS and their products as do I for ETS, but I was making a point and you assumed wrong and thats ok, but I dont think it helped anybody, if thats what you were going for like you said...good day sir...

Will it? I don't know myself. I am planning on getting a mail in flash at some point, but for now was just going for the LICP and drop in filter... after the tune, that's all i'm doing to the car as far as performance is concerned.... maybe plugs since I have heard some people say the IX's rich a/f can foul the stock ones?

so...

Will it be ok to drive the car without a tune with a TBE LICP and Drop in filter?
Will the plugs need to be changed after the tune is completed?

The licp will not mess up your tune, but tuning after will help, and you will eventually need a tune w/ all those parts, but its not gonna hurt your car per say if you drive it w/ all of those bolt-ons. I would change your plugs before your tune if you think they are bad, but if not, then dont worry about it. I do, cause Im **** and NGk plugs are cheap.

yeah, I know the tune will help greatly and I am going to do it... I just wanted to get the bolt ons all together and then get the tune to finish it all up.

Have you figured out who you are going to have tune the car?

No I haven't... i'll probably just do a mail in reflash with Dynoflash.. I don't want to buy the cable and go through all that crap.... besides... everyone says to use someone different... so and so does this better or this guy messed up their cousins brothers evo once.. blah blah. I'll just have to do more research.

I believe strongly in the fact that a personal tune is going to beat out a mail in flash any day. Where are you located?

I don't know why you couldn't? I have no idea why people remove their bumpers unless its more difficult on the VIII's then the IX's or maybe because they are upgrading additional piping or the front mount.

well that's good news then! How about the UICP? Does it really help with HP or is it basically for looks unless you are really pushing big hp numbers?

So far I have only replaced my LICP, everything else is stock.

Did a little research on removing bumpers to install LICP. On the stock LICP there are two support brackets that need their bolts removed. One I was able to easily slide a 10mm open end wrench too and unbolt it from underneath the car. The second was impossible to get to from underneath the car so I went up top. All I had to do was remove two bolts on the coolant overflow tank, it lifts straight up set it too the side and I had complete unrestricted access to the second LICP bracket bolt. Undid that bolt, loosened the hose clamps and then the pipe cam right out.

I think some people don't realize you just need to remove the coolant overflow to gain access to the second stock LICP bracket bolt and instead remove the bumper to gain access to this bolt. At least thats my guess.

I have the Muse Motorsports LICP that I got from http://www.vr-speed.com. It's designed to fit both the 8 & 9. After getting it on I definitely noticed an improvement in top end performance and it seemed like the boost kicks in quicker. The problem with the cheaper options are the material they are made, I personally prefer aluminum as opposed to mild steel (cheaper nisei) or even stainless due to weight and heat dissipation properties.

A buddy dyno'd his IX with this lower intercooler pipe and gained 11whp on a dynojet if that means anything but I haven't personally dyno'd my car yet.

BTW: I installed this along with the UICP by removing the front bumper (REEAAALY EASY) and bolting it right up. Literally took me 30 minutes from start to finish
