Evo 8 Aem Intake Installed

I installed my aem intake yesterday. Pretty easy install i really like the setup. Dam u can really hear the turbo spool. Gains seem noticeable. Have to go do some more butt dynoing.

Pics are coming today. Price was free because of R&D with AEM.
It's a short ram system but very effective. Has a heat shield and u keep the stock air dam for cold air. I'm also selling them for $210.00 let me know if u want one.

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but does it matter if it's cold air or short ram??? considering the air is super heated when it's blown past the turbo, the only place cooling takes place in the intercooler. so technically any open air element filter will work essentially the same? please feel free to tell me if i'm wrong but i don't see the point in a expensive short ram if the temp change doesn't make a difference. an open air element i understand for the better "breathing" effect.

Looks like someone bought into Rhys Millens PR crap. Even RMR contradict themselves by offering a cold air school for their intake. Intake temp is all based on a Delta. If you ingest hot air the compressed air will be hotter than that from a colder source.

i understand that, but considering a short ram's are basically the same, pulling from the same source... so why would the temps of the air be any different? i would like to see dyno graphs of the AEM vs any other short ram or filter aplication out there... $210 is alot for a filter and pipe if it doesn't do anything different then just a open air filement

The AEM intake kit is actually the whole induction pipe (from the turbo) with the cone filter. If you buy a Ralliart, Cusco, etc., the induction kit alone is over $200 and you still have to buy the cone intake system (like RMR,Blitz, etc.). This is one whole unit and you save some $$$ when you get it. I actually DO NOT have this AEM intake but I am basing my assumptions from the pictures that I saw courtesy of DRC Imports (a regular mewmber of these forums).

The cold air intake arguement has been covered MILLIONS of times in these forums. Basically, you get this kit, you save money from buying the whole system seperate. Even if you already have a cone filter, this is still cheaper that the other induction kits mentioned above. The CAI benefits (if any) will be based on your OWN beliefs about it.

RMR, AMS, Vivid, and other parts prototype EVOs out there have the induction kit in their cars. They all claim a few HP/TQ gains, around 1-3. Certainly this system is a lot lighter that the stock rubber induction system and it will induce more airflow.

Now get this system already and spank some STi's.

wouldn't having a CAI help keep the turbo just a tad bit cooler too, only a few degrees, but anything helps!

I've never seen a cold air intake for any turbo car. Usually they're just a "short ram" filter.

wrx's have the cold air option... the filter is in the fender well, while the short ram is in the engine bay. i still don't see the point for 1-2hp... let's face it not worth the money, better spent on the works re-flash, or saving up for a exhaust... IMHO
