valve tap, bad lifters? how to re oil lifters?

well i recently instaled brian crower 272 cams in my 03 evo 8 about a little over a month ago. within the last 2 weeks there has been taping, progressively getting louder and louder. it sound like it is coming from under the oil cap from the valve cover.

the tapping dosent seem to start getting loud or really noticeable until the car warms up. im no mechanic but that just seems a little odd to me.

it seems like the biggest problem when others install cams is that the lifters aren't bled correctly. are the lifetrs fixable once this problem happens or should they be replaced?

i was looking at replacing the lifters with the topline revised lifters. the dealership wants a little over $800 for all of the oem lifters. and i found a set of the topline lifters for 110$. and i have herd that the ble solid lifters arent worth purchasing.

any help or advice on this topic would be appreciated.

Sounds like you just need to bleed your lifters... Thats not a common part to break.

Cheers!

after i installed my cossi cams 272's i noticed that the PVC valve the rear one ,, tends to opens and close making more noise that before and i thought it was my lifters,,,, however i umplugged the PVC and capped it and the noise goes away as soon as i uncap it it starts making the noise again and the noise is the noise of like a tapping almost sounds like a lifter.

remember the rear PVC is close to your oil cap and injectors ,,, noises can get mixed up quickly.....tripple check your self and do some testing

i think tommrow im going to pull the valve cover off and re bleed the injectors and check everything.

and how can you tell if a lifter is collapsed or not functional?

also, when installing the lifters how should they be refilled with oil?

if a lifter is collapsed, it will feel "spongy".

This is going to sound like a odd question, but no where have a found any instruction, or "how to" areas on how to bleed the lifters?
