I am sure the Red is a better all around turbo...HOWEVER...on a stock motor with just basic bolt ons? I have seen stock turbos make around 350 WHP so only shy about 20 WHP vs the Green...but the difference was much more distinct with the power under the curve vs peak HP...so this could be the same case with the Green vs the Red...the Red might only make 20 WHP more peak...but could be a monster with the power under the curve...or it may not...right now there is about $700 difference between the two...lets see what happens...

Buschur said from the beginning this turbo would only make 30 more whp than an equally equipped Green turbo (bolt on type Evo's, not fully built). Is it worth $700? Possibly, we pay more than that for 30 whp often times. No one should be surprised at these results and the fact that it did so well on the test mule cars comes from their level of modification and high boost/octane levels.

hmm...it really depends what one is looking for...personally I want close to stock spool with the extra kick...hence why the Green seems to be the best choice...since it spools close to stock...I wonder where the Red actually kicks in...$700 is a lot for only 30 HP...I would like to know where the Red kicks in...and where it dies off vs the Green...someone eventually will have the graph...but for a turbo under $1K...I don't see a better alternative than the Green...anyone know how much more HP the Green makes over a stock IX tubo with bolt ons?

I like how the torque reaches quick to its maximum point like a stock turbo, stays constant up to 6200 and then just drops a little and slowly. This is good news to me and the 02 dump is performing as expected.

youre seeing alot of fp actuator holding torque (albeit holding boost)... boost is not on the plot...

the boost curve is very much a mound... because of fp's actuator, as we have seen with the green, allowing it to hold more boost to redline.

for pump gas, i think id run a green over the red, considering what ive read of this turbo, and what i saw first hand with it on the bench, it is obviously what dave b has proven... very good over 30psi... like a 35R type turbo.

on the street at pump boost levels the results may be different... right charlie?

I made 420whp on the BR dyno. 93 octane only. 29psi.

It's a great turbo

edit: If I didn't have a ported head and a BR built 2.0 I don't think the results would have been as good. Not sure if I would opt for one over a green on a "bolt on" car.

was it able to maintain the boost all the way to redline? or was there still a little taper even with an fp actuator?

it tapered very little...

id be curious to tune one on the stock ecu controlled boost, instead of an mbc.,.

Agreed. The turbo starts to come alive at 26.5+psi. Running anything else i think the green would be a more fun turbo. All out car running high boost the red will be a good turbo. With this car on the stock IC it didnt make much sense to run higher boost. Yeah it would have made more power but for that 1 pull then heat soak. The car is getting a BR ic soon we will run some higher boost on pump to see what it does. All in all i actually expected less power at low boost with later spool. It was a pleasant suprise

How was the drive home Matt? Enjoying the car now

wow thats very good.. i bet with a 3 port boost solenoid or a good ebc that it would not taper at all. or maybe add a spring to make the wastegate hold more boost. either way those are very good results!
