? for those who have removed the OEM EVO 8 intake manifold...
I'm in the process of removing my OEM manifold right now. I will swap in a Buschur ported intake manifold and buschur 65mm T-body once I get my current one off.
I was wondering what combination of tools you guys used for this job? In particular, how do you guys remove the 14mm bolts that secure the intake manifold bracket to the intake manifold?
I used a 3/8" drive ratchet with a 14mm socket... but somehow I cant seem to get enough leverage to crack the 14mm bolt loose.
On my Integra GSR I took out the dual stage manifold and put on a ITR style manifold.... I broke the 2 bolts on the intake manifold bracket loose by jacking the car up, and going underneath there with a few 1' long extenions with swivel joints to get it loose....
Can any of you guys give me advice?

Is there enough room to get the box end of a wrench on the ratchet and use it for leverage? Or you could use a 14mm wrench with another wrench to use also for leverage, thats what I did when I took my bracket off in my 2g last summer

more torque. Try to use the two-wrench method for a longer torque arm, otherwise a big like 22mm wrench on the end of the 3/8 drive ratchet. Just need to twist harder, and make SURE you are spinning them the right way!!! (since its kind backwards from where you're at).
Lay on the engine block on your chest, wrap your arms around it and CRANK!

Thanks guys for the tips, so you guys are certain that i dont have to jack up the car, go underneath and assemble some 1' long extenstions and do it from below? If so, ok..... I'll try attaching a open end wrench to the 3/8" drive ratchet to get me some good leverage.
and yes, I probably need to hit the gym too...
What about the TPS?? How do I get the plug off w/o breaking anything?

If you have a hollow short pipe, you can slide that over the handle of your ratchet to give you more leverage. i dont know how confined you are for space, but it will definitly apply more torque

so far i have loosened all the easy stuff and transferred it to the Buschur manifold...and i've half way loosened the wiring harnesses to the sensors and the injectors....
as for the manifold bracket bolts, I just checked with the factory manual and its supposed to be tq. down to like 25 ft-lbs if I'm not mistaken..... once the Buschur mani goes on, I'm gonna totally remove the intake manifold bracket right away.... maybe save me like 5 pounds right away....

I got most of everything removed today. I only have the 2 lower, center 12mm bolts to remove then the stock IM can come off.... the BR one will go on right afterwards.
As for the 2 14mm intake mani bracket bolts, I had my brother remove them for me
and as for removing the TPS socket, my brother used some special pick tool to remove the metal clip that locks the plug into place..
