Car wont start
I cannot get my car to start with out jumping it. I thought my battery was dead so i replaced the stock on with an ams mini battery kit. the car worked for a few starts then if i let it sit for more than a week it would need a jump to start. after that i drove it every day for a few months and all was good. well i broke my knee cap and haven't driven it in 6 weeks. now the car is dead again. when i jump it, it will start just fine but will shut off if i dont give it gas. i drove it around for an hour like this and then parked it in my drive way. immediately after shutting it off i tried to start it up. wouldn't even turn over, i cant even get it to beep at me if i leave the keys in with the door open. i checked all the fuses and they are all fine. i checked the grounds as best as i could and they all look normal and i haven't messed with them. i have no idea what to do and now i have a 3000lbs paper weight in my drive way.
ive got an 03 8 and when i had a problem with starting my car without giving it gas and keeping the rpms up until the car was warm for it to stay running, it was my idle air control valve. but as far as your batt not holding a charge i would check the alternator.
Check your battery and alternator. If is would start immediately after driving I wouldn't say to check those. If the battery dies after being off for a while, I would say you had a loose electronic connection that is draining power on something while off.
I had the same problem with my mini battery it turns out that the brass fitting when assembled wrong and causing a poor connection. check the brass fittings where the positive and negative terminals connect the battery( withthe terminal on tight) and try to wiggle them gently back and forth and see if the terminal and brass end caps both move. If they do, then you have the same problem i did. If so put you head lights to the on position and wiggle the terminal again and watch to see if your lights begin to turn on and off. If they do then you know you have a faulty battery. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TIGHTEN THE THE ALLEN BOLT IN THE BRASS FITTING THAT WILL NOT WORK AND COULD POSSIBLY RUPTURE THE BATTERY.

Here's how to check battery and alternator. Start the car (jump it or whatever), with the car running remove the negative battery terminal. If the car stays running then your alternator is doing its job and you need to replace your batt. If it dies you have a bad alt. With the car running just off the alt, you should be able to turn on your lights, air, blinkers without the car shutting off. If it does shut off, your alternator is running just enough to keep the car on but nothing else and it needs to be replaced.
