Question Advice for lowering exhaust sound?

I have a megan header, ttp o2 housing, DC 2in1 downpipe and catdelete with a carbon-ti exhaust.

I am looking to lower the overall sound of my exhaust.

I am currently looking at a HKS 65mm downpipe, Perrin Cat replacement and going back to stock header and o2 housing.

I know I will lose some horsepower in this setup but will the 65mm downpipe with perrins highflow cat tone it down and still sound good?

Any comments?

Thanks.

Jonathan

There are ways to lower your exhaust sound level without having to invest in replacing perfectly good parts. I would look into installing a resonator.

Having a smaller diameter pipe will not lower your exhaust sound. Its all in the thickness of the steel walls that help middle sounds. Catalytic substrates also lessen noise. Ditch the carbon ti and pick something with a large oval muffler.

Do NOT decrease the diameter of your exhaust but rather install quality resonator(s). Easiest option is to get the 18" by Magnaflow since they focus on supressing sound while increasing flow.

Yup. Add a resonator or two.

Ear plugs are good when drilling or doing machine work....driving an evo around with ear plugs would look like he had an ear infection

Adding sound deading material will add some extra pounds to the car. That stuff is heavy and IMO not a great solution when he can just add a resonator or two and kill some of the lounder and higher notes coming from his exhaust.

The roll i purchased is a weight gain of 23lbs if installing the full roll. I can live with an extra 23lbs for a quiet cabin. Besides, just turn up the boost to make up the difference in weight
